Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Security Engineer well-versed in designing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise-wide or large-scale network security systems. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 15 years of experience as a Security Engineer, with an advanced security certification particularly from Palo Alto being highly desirable. This role includes managerial responsibilities and requires extensive experience in network security, design, and operations within datacenters and virtual cloud environments. Additionally, experience with Cloud Security and AI and automation in the security domain will be highly beneficial.

Key Responsibilities:

Security Solutions Design & Management:

  • Manage the analysis and design of network security solutions in datacenters and virtual cloud environments.
  • Provide technical and administrative direction to personnel responsible for security infrastructure design, implementation, and operations tasks, ensuring the correctness of work products.

Technical Leadership & Oversight:

  • Make recommendations and oversee major security infrastructure installations.
  • Ensure that the security architecture complies with agency IT standards and integrates well with other systems and external interfaces.

Security Policy Implementation:

  • Develop an understanding of, and implement, agency security policy in network security infrastructure devices.
  • Evaluate cybersecurity risks to ensure that critical data and systems are protected per federal government guidelines and integrated with enterprise-wide solutions.

Risk Management & Analysis:

  • Analyze trends, news, and changes in threat and compliance environments.
  • Advise organization management and develop and execute plans for compliance and mitigation of risk.

Engineering & Advisory:

  • Apply security engineering principles and theory to propose design and configuration alternatives.
  • Evaluate existing security systems to identify deficiencies and areas for performance improvement.
  • Architect, design, implement, maintain, and operate information system security controls and countermeasures.
  • Provide technical guidance to personnel concerning security requirements and potential solutions or mitigation options.

People Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of security professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide career development guidance, and support the professional growth of team members.
  • Coordinate and oversee team projects, ensuring effective delegation, and timely completion of tasks.
  • Resolve conflicts and make effective decisions regarding personnel matters, promoting a positive and inclusive team culture.

Required Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Minimum of 15 years' experience as a Security Engineer.
  • Specialized experience with designing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise-wide or large-scale network security systems, including Firewalls, IDS/IPS, content filters, and SSL-Visibility systems.

Certification:

  • Advanced security certification from Palo Alto, Cisco, or Juniper. Palo Alto is preferred

  • Experience in automating repetitive security tasks and processes to increase efficiency and reduce human error.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet) for automating security operations.

Cloud Security:

  • Extensive experience with securing cloud environments and services.
  • Understanding of cloud security protocols, best practices, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency with cloud security tools and technologies.

The likely salary range for this position is $140,250 - $189,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
