As a Medical Scribe, you will hold a pivotal position within the healthcare landscape, focusing on maintaining precise documentation of medical records and providing invaluable assistance to physicians during patient interactions. This remote position requires excellent listening and typing skills, as well as a strong understanding of medical terminology and procedures. You will work closely with healthcare providers to transcribe patient encounters, update electronic health records (EHR), and facilitate seamless communication between medical staff. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the delivery of quality patient care while working remotely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transcribe Patient Encounters: Listen to physician-patient interactions and accurately transcribe medical histories, examination findings, diagnoses, and treatment plans into electronic health records (EHR) systems. Review transcribed notes and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and clarity, making any necessary corrections or clarifications as needed.
  • Update Electronic Health Records (EHR): Ensure that patient records are complete, up-to-date, and compliant with regulatory standards by promptly documenting all relevant information provided during patient encounters.
  • Facilitate Communication: Act as a liaison between physicians and other healthcare team members by relaying messages, orders, and instructions in a clear and timely manner, both verbally and electronically.
  • Maintain Confidentiality: Uphold strict patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations when handling sensitive medical information and records.
  • Provide Real-Time Assistance: Assist physicians during patient interactions by retrieving patient information, documenting procedures, and entering orders as directed, allowing providers to focus on patient care.
  • Collaborate with Physicians: Work closely with healthcare providers to ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation of patient encounters, promoting continuity of care and effective communication among medical staff.
  • Adhere to Workflow Processes: Follow established protocols and procedures for documenting patient encounters, managing electronic health records, and communicating with healthcare team members to maintain efficiency and consistency.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a medical scribe or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Typing proficiency with a minimum Speed of 60 Words Per Minute (wpm).
  • Proficient in virtual office tools, EHR systems, and communication platforms.
  • Proficiency in English communication, both written and verbal.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations and the importance of patient data confidentiality.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to work in US time zones (PST, EST, CST).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
