Roles & Responsibilities

  • 10+ years of semiconductor devices and industrial semiconductor technology experience
  • 10+ years of experience across multiple aspects of new product research and development
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, Physics, or related field
  • Strong leadership, deep technical expertise, and proven track record of driving innovation

Requirements:

  • Strategic Planning: Align research goals with corporate strategy, determine which products or technologies to pursue, identify new growth opportunities and competitive threats, and act as a bridge between engineering and business units to align technical developments with market demands
  • Portfolio Management: Balance the R&D pipeline between immediate product enhancements and long-term, high-risk, high-reward innovations; mitigate development risk by maximizing IP reuse across business units and product development teams
  • Cross Functional Leadership: Collaborate with business teams, foundries, and customers to translate requirements into technical solutions; build a wide level of competence by spreading knowledge and providing mentorship to engineers at all levels
  • Technology Market Intelligence: Continuously monitor industry trends and technological advancements; identify potential disruptive technologies and new opportunities; drive innovation by evaluating and implementing new technologies; create regular publications, presentations, white papers, and patents

Job description

Nexperia is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Technical Director/R&D Strategist to align technology developments with business objectives. This person will serve as a senior leader with a blend of technical expertise and strategic business acumen to deliver competitive advantages and commercialize new technologies. You will drive innovation, create long-term R&D plans, and optimize the new product design execution efficiency to drive company growth by focusing on market trends, competitive intelligence, and technology roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning

  • Aligning research goals with the overall corporate strategy determining which products or technologies to pursue
  • Identify new growth opportunities and competitive threats
  • Act as a bridge between engineering and the business units to align technical developments with market demands

Portfolio Management

  • Balancing the R&D pipeline between immediate product enhancements and long-term, high-risk, high-reward innovations.
  • Mitigate development risk by maximizing IP reuse across business units and product development teams

Cross Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate with business teams, foundries, and customers to translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Accountable to build Nexperia wide level of competence by spreading his/her knowledge and providing mentorship to engineers at all levels.

Technology & Market Intelligence

  • Continuously monitor industry trends and technological advancements
  • Identify potential disruptive technologies and new opportunities
  • Drive innovation by evaluating and implementing new technologies that enhance Nexperia’s capabilities
  • Responsible to create a regular stream of publications, presentations and “white papers” and some patents awarded

What you will need

Hard Skills:

  • 10+ Years of semiconductor devices and industrial semiconductor technology experience
  • 10+ Years of expertise across multiple aspects of new product research and development
  • Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics,  Physics, or related field
  • Strong leadership skills, deep technical expertise, and a proven track record of driving innovation
  • High ability to judge new technologies concerning their possible application
  • Strong analytical capabilities to evaluate engineering and business values and risk
  • Able to handle diversified activities with conflicting interaction, and able to resolve conflicting requirements 

Soft Skills:

  • Delivering on commitments – always demonstrating full accountability for own work package / project deliverables
  • Continuously looking for opportunities to reduce time to market
  • Showing critical judgement, entrepreneurial mindset and contribute to building ‘winning teams’
  • Is sensitive to and shows respect for different cultures, values and ways of doing things; adapts own approach and style appropriately.
  • Excellent communicator with high ability for stakeholder management, customer interaction and networking
