  • AS degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 3 years of directly related networking experience
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance
  • Expertise with enterprise-level networking infrastructure and knowledge of TCP/IP, OSI models, and common enterprise cabling standards (copper, fiber)
  • Experience with installation, management, and monitoring of enterprise network devices (switches/routers) and network management tools (WAN/LAN, Arista, Juniper, Palo Alto, Cisco)

Requirements:

  • Support desktop systems and OT/IoT equipment in networked and standalone environments; respond, document, and close tickets
  • Provide secure, consistent, and highly available network infrastructures and virtual services; support network/virtual services development, design, and testing
  • Update IT records systems to ensure accurate tracking and documentation; review IT Service Desk requests and resolve customer issues
  • Coordinate with advanced Network Operations teams for port activation, subnet allocation, firewall rule setup, and collaboration with cybersecurity/proxy teams; participate in change advisory boards

Overview:

Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a Senior Network Technician to support a major national laboratory.

Core competencies include software, testing and requirements engineering, software and system architecture, to support our vision to provide accurate, timely and auditable data while partnering with our business partners to integrate IT into their business strategy. To further enable partnership to other IT organizations, matrixing to network IT services and the organization's mission is required to deliver secure, consistent, and capable network and virtual services to ensure faster realization of business value

Responsibilities:
  • Support desktop systems as well as OT/IOT equipment in both networked and standalone environments, responding, documenting, and closing tickets as submitted. The following expectations
  • Provide secure, consistent, and highly available network infrastructures and virtual services to meet IT needs.
  • Support network and virtual services development, design, implementation, testing, trouble resolution, network monitoring tools, and maintenance contracts.
  • Provide evaluation and design inputs to team for customer networks.
  • Update IT records systems to ensure accurate tracking and documentation.
  • Review specific incoming IT Service Desk requests and resolve customer requirement issues.
  • Coordinate with advanced Network Operations teams as needed to support port activation and connection of device to ports.
  • Allocate subnets for customer environments.
  • Assist setup of customer firewall rules.
  • Possess the ability to partner with other IT teams such as corporate cyber security, firewall and proxy teams.
  • Represent the interests of assigned teams or customers in change advisory boards.
Qualifications:
  • AS degree in relevant discipline plus minimum 3 years or more years of directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance
  • Must be US Citizen

 

Required skills:

  • Expertise with enterprise-level networking infrastructure.
  • Clear understanding of the TCP/IP and OSI models.
  • Familiar with common enterprise network cabling standards (copper, fiber).
  • Ability to respond to customer tickets in support of system and network outages.
  • Advanced knowledge of network troubleshooting of escalated issues with intermediate and endpoint systems.
  • Experience with installation, management, and monitoring enterprise network switches, routers.
  • Ability to create, navigate within, and update the network configurations and routes.
  • Experience using network management tools/systems:
  • WAN, LAN
  • Arista, Juniper, Palo Alto, Cisco, or equivalent
  • Optical networks
  • Ability to recommend changes to methods or processes.
  • Occasionally leads technical teams and participates in planning, conducting, and reporting on projects.
  • Good practices in documenting work performed (including issues) in service requests to service leads, management and/or transitioning work to another team.
  • Customer service and joint team building skills
  • Ability to articulate technical projects verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills using tact and courtesy.
  • Knowledge of ITSM framework
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities simultaneously is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
