Job Description – FCC Technical Excellence Engineer
 

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated engineer with strong expertise in Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) to join our FCC Europe Team. You will be an integral part of the Technical Excellence organization, providing technical service and deep insights to our customers in the region. This position offers regional exposure, with travel requirements to many different locations in Europe.
 

In this role, you will collaborate closely with our Europe Technical Excellence and Technical Sales colleagues to support multiple incumbent FCC customers while working towards new sales opportunities. You will have the ability to influence sales strategies, help customers troubleshoot and optimize their FCCUs, and position Ketjen’s FCC catalyst technologies competitively in the market.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and deliver competitive technical proposals and catalyst recommendations for existing and prospective customers, supporting the catalyst sales process.
  • Continuously monitor FCCUs you are responsible for, providing as needed expertise on process and ecat data as well as preparing technical service reports on at least a quarterly basis.
  • Engage with customers to understand their needs and pains and help improve the unit operation and profitability with Ketjen FCC solutions.
  • Provide technical services such as FCC unit start-up support, ongoing monitoring, and troubleshooting of operational issues as needed.
  • Conduct in-depth technical and economic studies to help customers optimize their FCC operations and improve unit profitability.
  • Prepare and present technical papers at industry seminars, conferences, and customer events.
  • Partner with the business to identify future technical needs, market opportunities, and areas for innovation.

Required Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or a closely related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in FCC operations, FCC catalyst business, or FCC licensing.
  • Strong command of English, both written and spoken; additional language skills are an asset.
  • A balanced combination of technical depth and commercial awareness, enabling strong customer engagement and advocacy.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
