Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable SAP CPI / Integration Suite architectures and hybrid integration landscapes across SAP and non-SAP systems
  • Lead enterprise API strategy and interface development, including REST, SOAP, OData, IDoc, RFC, JDBC, SFTP, AS2 integrations and API governance
  • Support and migrate SAP PI/PO environments to SAP CPI; develop iFlows, mappings, adapters, and robust error handling
  • Define and enforce integration governance and security standards; enable cloud-native integration with SAP BTP and monitor/perf-tune interfaces

SAP CPI Technical Architect / SME

Location: UK remote or India

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced SAP CPI Technical Architect / Subject Matter Expert (SME) with strong expertise in SAP PI/PO, SAP CPI (Cloud Platform Integration), SAP Integration Suite, APIs, and enterprise application integration to join our growing SAP practice.

The ideal candidate will have 12+ years of hands-on SAP integration experience, with deep technical expertise in designing, developing, and governing enterprise-grade integrations across SAP and non-SAP ecosystems. Experience in pharmaceutical / life sciences SAP implementations will be considered a significant advantage.

This role requires a strong technical leader capable of driving integration architecture, API strategy, middleware modernization, and hybrid integration landscapes across cloud and on-premise environments.

Key Responsibilities

SAP CPI / Integration Suite Architecture

  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance integrations using:

    • SAP CPI (Cloud Platform Integration)
    • SAP Integration Suite
    • SAP PI/PO
    • SAP API Management
    • Event Mesh
    • Open Connectors
  • Architect hybrid integration landscapes connecting:

    • SAP S/4HANA
    • SAP ECC
    • SAP Ariba
    • SAP SuccessFactors
    • SAP IBP
    • SAP MDG
    • SAP BTP
    • Third-party applications

Enterprise API & Interface Development

  • Lead enterprise API strategy and interface architecture initiatives
  • Design REST, SOAP, OData, IDoc, RFC, JDBC, SFTP, AS2, and proxy-based integrations
  • Develop reusable integration patterns and API governance frameworks
  • Create secure APIs with:

    • OAuth 2.0
    • JWT
    • SAML
    • Mutual SSL
    • API throttling and authentication policies
  • Implement synchronous and asynchronous communication patterns

SAP PI/PO Expertise

  • Support and optimize existing SAP PI/PO landscapes
  • Develop and maintain:

    • ESR objects
    • Interface mappings
    • Operation mappings
    • BPM processes
    • ICO / iFlow configurations
    • Adapter configurations
  • Perform migration and modernization from SAP PI/PO to SAP CPI

SAP CPI Development

  • Build and optimize CPI iFlows using:

    • Groovy scripting
    • XSLT mappings
    • Message transformations
    • Content modifiers
    • Exception subprocesses
    • Routing and splitter patterns
  • Configure adapters including:

    • SuccessFactors
    • OData
    • SOAP
    • REST
    • IDoc
    • SFTP
    • HTTP
    • JDBC
    • Mail adapters
  • Develop robust error-handling and monitoring frameworks

Integration Governance & Security

  • Define enterprise integration standards and best practices
  • Ensure compliance with security and audit requirements
  • Implement:

    • Encryption mechanisms
    • Certificate management
    • Secure credential handling
    • Role-based access controls
  • Conduct performance tuning, root-cause analysis, and interface optimization

Cloud & Hybrid Integration

  • Work extensively on SAP BTP integration capabilities
  • Integrate SAP systems with:

    • Salesforce
    • Oracle
    • Microsoft platforms
    • ServiceNow
    • Workday
    • Manufacturing / Pharma systems
    • Legacy enterprise applications
  • Enable cloud-native integration and API-led connectivity strategies

Monitoring & Support

  • Monitor enterprise integration landscapes proactively
  • Troubleshoot interface failures, payload issues, and connectivity problems
  • Work closely with BASIS, functional, infrastructure, and business teams for issue resolution
