About JerseySTEM:

All JerseySTEM roles are pro-bono (unpaid) positions.

JerseySTEM is a mission-driven professional network of pro-bono contributors dedicated to improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey.

Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization’s gender-equity agenda.

Membership is a minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K–12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.

JerseySTEM is looking for talented professionals across our departments to commit time and energy as long-term engagement for our mission to provide STEM education to underrepresented middle school girls.

 

We are seeking a creative and innovative Curriculum Designer / Curriculum Writer to develop engaging and educational materials for middle school students. The main objective of this role is to design a comprehensive and age-appropriate curriculum that aligns with our organization's mission and educational goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and educators to identify learning objectives and content requirements.
  • Design curriculum modules, lesson plans, and teaching materials for various STEM subjects, ensuring they are age-appropriate and aligned with educational standards.
  • Create interactive and hands-on activities that foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity in students.
  • Incorporate technology and digital resources to enhance learning experiences. Review and edit existing curriculum materials to ensure accuracy, relevance, and effectiveness.
  • Develop specialized curriculum modules focusing on cutting-edge topics such as Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity, designed to engage and challenge middle school students.
  • Work with the Education Team to implement and evaluate the effectiveness of the designed curriculum.
  • Provide support and training to educators and volunteers on the effective use of the curriculum materials.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in the education field and make continuous improvements to the curriculum.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Curriculum Development, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in curriculum design and development, particularly for middle school students.
  • Knowledge of STEM education principles and best practices.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to create clear and concise educational content.
  • Proficiency in using technology for curriculum development, including digital tools and software.
  • Creativity and the ability to design engaging and interactive learning materials.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented mindset, able to work effectively with stakeholders and subject matter experts.
  • Understanding of educational standards and assessment methods.
  • Must commit to 5-7 Hours a week for 6 months
