ABOUT SLATE
At Slate, we’re building safe, reliable vehicles that people can afford, personalize and love—and doing it here in the USA as part of our commitment to reindustrialization. The spirit of DIY and customization runs throughout every element of a Slate, because people should have control over how their trucks look, feel, and represent them.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
As the Lead Product Manager, Enterprise Systems at Slate, you will own the product strategy and delivery for the platforms that keep our operational backbone running. In the world of EV manufacturing, the “digital thread” – the flow of data from a purchase order to a shop-floor robot to a customer’s driveway – is what determines our speed to market. You will shape how Slate tracks every dollar, every bolt, and every battery cell, turning business strategy into working systems.
This is a high-impact, hands-on role where you will balance the stability of “out-of-the-box” enterprise software with the agility of custom-built solutions, ensuring our ERP, MES, WMS, PLM, and procurement platforms scale as fast as our production lines. You will be the product voice in the room when we decide what to buy, what to build, and how to connect it all.
The Lead Product Manager, Enterprise Systems reports directly to the Head of Enterprise Systems.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO
Own the Roadmap: Drive the product roadmap for Slate’s core enterprise platforms – ERP (Finance, OTC, PTP), MES, WMS, PLM, and Travel & Expense – balancing near-term launch needs with long-term scale.
Bridge the Physical & Digital: Design the end-to-end Design-to-Build data flow – Item Master, Item Structure, BOMs, routings, serialization, and genealogy – so data moves cleanly between Engineering, the factory floor, and the financial ledger.
Buy vs. Build Evaluation: Lead structured evaluations of major platforms, documenting MVP requirements, total cost of ownership, and risk to help leadership make high-stakes calls on industry-standard software versus proprietary builds.
Process Engineering: Define the business processes – Procure-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash, Plan-to-Produce – that will govern how Slate operates, not just the software that supports them.
Cross-Functional Orchestration: Partner directly with Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Commercial Operations to translate business requirements into technical workflows and shipped features.
Deliver End-to-End: Lead implementation teams – developers, QAs, and system integrators – through discovery, configuration, UAT, cutover, and hypercare for major releases.
Govern Master Data: Establish BOM and master data governance across business units, keeping the system of record clean as product variants and accessories scale.
Automate the Boring Stuff: Design automated user lifecycle, PO, and Sales Order flows integrated with Active Directory and downstream systems to reduce manual entry, cut errors, and enforce T&E and financial compliance.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Information Technology, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required. Master's degree is preferred.
Experience: 8+ years of product management or technical program management experience delivering enterprise systems, specifically within manufacturing, automotive, or complex hardware environments.
Implementation Depth: Hands-on experience as the primary product owner on at least one full-cycle ERP implementation (Oracle Fusion, SAP, NetSuite, or equivalent) across OTC and/or PTP.
Digital Thread Fluency: Strong working knowledge of the PLM → MES → ERP toolchain – TeamCenter, 3DEXPERIENCE, or equivalent — including MBOMs, routings, serialization, and genealogy.
Integration Fluency: Comfort connecting disparate systems via APIs, middleware, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) or similar frameworks; you can diagnose an integration issue without waiting on a developer.
Scaling Experience: You have helped a company move from scrappy early-stage systems to enterprise-grade, SOX-compliant infrastructure, and you know which corners are safe to cut and which are not.
Master Data Discipline: Deep fluency with BOM effectivity, option configurations, and item / material master, and a clear-eyed view of how bad data ripples through Manufacturing, Finance, and Supply Chain.
Systems Thinker: You see the company as a series of interconnected loops – you understand how a delay in procurement ripples through the MES and eventually hits the financial ledger.
Pragmatic Builder: You know that “perfect is the enemy of shipped.” You can ship a Minimum Viable ERP today while planning for a global scale-up tomorrow.
Diplomat: You are skilled at managing stakeholders with competing priorities, helping them find common ground on process and data standards.
Hands-On Technical Leader: Comfortable reading SQL, working in Tableau or equivalent BI tools, and guiding both functional consultants and software developers to robust, maintainable outcomes.
