  • Reviews and evaluates property inspections and makes recommendations for risk improvement; reviews property valuation reports, fire brush reports and other underwriting reports to determine acceptability and needed modifications
  • Reviews and processes endorsements and cancellations within limits of authority and according to established guidelines
  • Accompanies Marketing and meets with existing and potential agents to develop relationships and generate additional business; communicates effectively with colleagues in underwriting and support areas to meet customers' insurance needs

Overview:

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Underwriter with 2-4+ years of strong Contractor and Construction underwriting expertise. Requires strong teamwork, collaboration, customer service and problem solving skills, and is results oriented. Contractor/Construction underwriting experience preferred.

State specific pay scales for this role are as follows:

$56,701 to $102,219 (CA, NJ, NY, WA, HI, AK, MD, CT, RI, MA)

$51,546 to $92,927 (NV, OR, AZ, CO, WY, TX, ND, MN, MO, IL, WI, FL, GA, MI, OH, VA, PA, DE, VT, NH, ME)

$46,392 to $83,634 (UT, ID, MT, NM, SD, NE, KS, OK, IA, AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, KY, IN, SC, NC, WV)

 

The expected base salary for this position will vary depending on a number of factors, including relevant experience, skills and location.

Responsibilities:

Essential Job Functions:


-Evaluates, accepts, rejects or modifies new and renewal accounts within the established underwriting guidelines. Handle and make rapid decisions and problem solving on commercial risks.
-Reviews and evaluates property inspections and makes the necessary recommendations for risk improvement. Review property valuation reports, fire brush reports and other related underwriting reports to determine acceptability and needs to modify account.
-Reviews and processes endorsements and cancellations within limits of authority and according to established guidelines.
-Accompanies Marketing and meet with existing and potential agents to develop relationships and generate additional business.
-Communicates effectively with colleagues in underwriting and all support areas in order to meet the insurance needs of customers.
-Evaluates and processes reinsurance placements.

-Must be available for standard work hours Monday - Friday 8am-5pm PT

Qualifications:

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• AU, AINS and/or CPCU desired

Experience:
• 2-4 years of Underwriting experience - Contractor/Construction underwriting experience preferred
• Or equivalent combination of education/experience
