Roles & Responsibilities

Requirements:

  • Provide remote OHP medical consultation oversight to the onsite RN for triage, First-Aid, Illness, and Wellness/Preventative Care for CBS employees and vendors
  • Monitor and enforce safety protocols, including illness/COVID protocols and weather-related health risks (e.g., heat exhaustion, hypothermia)
  • Document all medical interactions in the Medical Log with complete data (names, dosages of OTCs, CMD-prescribed scripts) and facilitate emergency responders when necessary
  • Escalate care advice to WorkCare’s on-call OHP/CMD and monitor medical supplies inventory (Jump Bag and OTCs), reporting low inventory

WorkCare provides on-site clinical services, telehealth support, and regulatory compliance solutions to reduce workplace risk and improve productivity.

Agilec is seeking an independent contractor Occupational Health Physician to support short-term event-based assignments in Ontario for WorkCare. The successful candidate will provide on-call remote telephonic occupational health support at two major live events, working within WorkCare’s CMD (Certified Medical Director) protocols.

Position Summary

This role provides remote/telephonic medical and occupational health support for production crews working behind the scenes at major events.

This is a casual, fixed-term contract, per-diem position with variable hours depending on event schedules.

Payrate Range - $1,000-$1,230 CAD per day

Physical Locations of Events:

  • Assignment #1: RBC Canadian Open – Osprey Valley
     18821 Main St, Caledon, ON L7K 1R1
     Dates: June 7 – June 14 (8 days)
  • Assignment #2: WNBA Event – Scotiabank Arena
     Toronto, ON
     Dates: June 26 – June 27 (2 days)

*Both Assignments are remote/do not require physical presence

Schedule & Hours

  • Remote On-Call Shifts range from 8 to 14 hours per day
  • Remote start times are typically between 6:00 AM – 10:00 AM (may vary from 5:00 AM – 12:00 PM)
  • End times based on event operations 

Key Responsibilities: 

The Consulting OHP/Certified Medical Director (CMD) will serve as the program leader and supervise the onsite clinician; providing remote OHP medical consultation oversite to the onsite Registered nurse for Triage, First-Aid, Illness, and Wellness/Preventative Care for CBS employees and vendors.

Examples of Onsite RN’s Responsibilities that the OHP oversees:

  • Provide Triage, First-Aid, Illness, and Wellness/Preventative Care for CBS employees and vendors.
  • Monitor and enforce Safety Protocols, including illness/flu/Covid protocols and weather-related health risks (heat exhaustion/hyperthermia, hypothermia/frostbite). 
  • Compound Security: Monitor people entering the Compound to ensure they are not in distress. Conduct periodic rounds. 
  • Document all medical interactions in the Medical Log. Data must be entered into all fields, including names & dosages of OTCs, and any CMD prescribed scripts. 
  • Facilitate emergency responders if necessary, and complete Internal Incident Reporting if off-site care is required.
  • Escalate care advice to WorkCare’s on-call OHP/CMD when necessary.
  • Medical Supplies & Inventory: Monitor Jump Bag and OTC med supplies; report low inventory. 

Qualifications and Skills:

1 - Licensure and Regulatory Compliance

  • Provincial Licensure: The physician must hold a valid and active certificate of registration with the Medical Regulatory Authority in the province/territory where the patient and RN are located – Ontario, CAN
  • Minimum 3 years of RN experience
  • Adherence to Standards: The physician must adhere to provincial policies regarding virtual care, such as the CPSO Virtual Care policy in Ontario, which mandates that virtual care be appropriate and in the patient's best interest. 

2- Delegation and Supervision (OHP Physician)

  • Proportionate Supervision: the physician must provide supervision and support proportionate to the risks, ensuring remote consultation and help are available.
  • Clear Delegation: The physician remains responsible for the patient care delegated to the RN.
  • Availability: The physician must be reachable by telephone to assist with patient assessment, review, or management of unexpected deteriorations in health. 

Work Environment

The OHP position is a remote position, however, to provide the OHP with onsite reference, the Onsite RN’s work environment is defined as follows:

  • Due to the fast-moving nature of sporting event productions as well as limited onsite space, Clinician Set-Up stations can vary; indoor/outdoor locations, e.g., trailers, pop-up tents, banquet halls, etc. Flexibility and preparedness for outdoor elements is an expectation. 
  • Minimal computer-based work is required in shared areas with potential for noise and connectivity interruptions.
