Description

The Permit Coordinator is responsible for managing and expediting all permitting activities required for the construction, remodeling, and operation of convenience store locations. This role ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and works closely with internal teams and external agencies to keep projects on schedule.


Key Responsibilities:

  •  Prepare and submit permit applications for building, signage, health, and fire.
  •  Track and manage the status of all permits using project management tools.
  •  Coordinate with architects, engineers, and general contractors to gather required documentation.
  •  Liaise with city, county, and state agencies to resolve issues and expedite approvals.
  •  Maintain a centralized database of permit records, expiration dates, and jurisdictional contacts.
  •  Support the development team in scheduling inspections and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  •  Assist in due diligence efforts for new site acquisitions by identifying permitting risks and timelines.
Requirements

Qualifications:

Preferred Education:

  •  Associate or bachelor's degree in construction management, Urban Planning, or related field preferred.

Skills:

  •  Strong organizational and time management skills.
  •  Excellent written and verbal communication.
  •  Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Smartsheet, and permitting portals.
  •  Ability to interpret construction documents and regulatory codes.

Preferred Experience:

  •  2+ years in permitting, preferably in convenience stores, retail, or commercial construction.
  •  Familiarity with convenience stores specific permits (e.g., health department, grease trap, raw products).
  •  Experience working with multiple jurisdictions across different states.
  •  Knowledge of ADA, fire safety, and food service regulations.
Salary Description
