Lead the Future of Learning of CPA Ontario as a Director, Product Innovation & Strategy
About This Opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity to build something truly impactful! As Director, Product Innovation & Strategy, you will help shape the future of continuing professional development at CPA Ontario. You’ll bring a thoughtful, entrepreneurial mindset to designing tailored learning strategies, identifying emerging skill needs, especially across AI, technology, and regulation, and launching innovative products that support professionals as they grow and adapt.
You will lead a diverse portfolio spanning Ethics, Finance, Leadership, AI & Technology, and Sustainability. Working collaboratively with internal teams, subject matter experts, and external partners, you will create scalable, relevant learning experiences that inspire engagement and deliver meaningful growth. With full P&L accountability, you will play a key role in expanding the portfolio and achieving steady, sustainable performance.
What You'll Be Doing:
Product Development & Launch
- Lead the end-to-end creation of learning products across formats, including courses, certificates, and digital offerings
- Translate learner insights into clear, focused product roadmaps
- Partner closely with subject matter experts and instructional designers to create high-quality, engaging content
- Continuously refine offerings by monitoring performance and responding thoughtfully to market and regulatory changes
Portfolio Strategy & Innovation
- Guide and evolve the overall portfolio strategy across key topic areas, such as Ethics, Finance, Leadership, AI & Technology, Sustainability, and emerging fields
- Use research, insights, and trends to anticipate learning needs and identify opportunities
- Regularly assess and refresh the portfolio—enhancing, repositioning, or retiring products as needed
- Explore creative approaches to pricing, packaging, and delivery (e.g., subscriptions, bundles, micro credentials)
Revenue Management & P&L
- Own and thoughtfully manage the P&L for a growing portfolio to meet YoY growth targets
- Monitor financial performance, identify risks early, and adjust course with care and agility
- Use data to inform decisions around product investment, pricing, and growth strategies
Partnerships & Market Development
- Build meaningful partnerships with industry groups, academic institutions, and experts to co-create learning solutions
- Stay connected to evolving professional needs through an active external network
- Represent CPA Ontario at events and forums to strengthen presence and relationships
Collaboration & Leadership
- Partner with marketing and sales to deliver thoughtful, targeted go-to-market strategies
- Use performance insights to continuously improve learner experience and outcomes
- Foster a culture of curiosity, innovation, and shared learning across teams
- Support strong processes that ensure consistent, high-quality content development
To Be Successful You'll Need:
- A university degree in Business, Education, or a related field
- 7+ years of progressive experience in professional education, learning & development, or product management
- Ideally you have some experience from a professional services firm, accounting firm, financial services organization, or professional association
- Proven success managing a multi-product portfolio with P&L accountability and consistent growth
- Experience working across diverse subject areas and collaborating effectively with subject matter experts
- Strong commercial and strategic thinking, with the ability to adapt quickly and thoughtfully
- A track record of turning insights into impactful product strategies and effective go-to-market plans
- A collaborative leadership style, with the ability to build trust and influence across teams and stakeholders
- Intellectual curiosity and a genuine commitment to continuous learning and development or continuing education product management
Practical Details
Salary range: The starting annual salary range for this position is between $160,000 - $170,000 per annum, based on your qualifications, experience, and internal parity. Exceptions may be considered with further review.
