Roles & Responsibilities

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Health Records Management / Medical Coding
  • 1-3 years of Health Information Management experience with people leadership
  • Certification in RHIT, RHIA, or CRCR
  • Proficiency with EMR systems (prefer EPIC and One Content), Microsoft Office, plus strong communication and training abilities; ability to work independently or in a team

Requirements:

  • Oversee day-to-day HIM operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant handling of health records and information workflows, coordinating team efforts to meet quality and productivity standards
  • Manage daily HIM activities including record processing, release of information, and maintenance of documentation integrity; monitor performance and provide guidance to ensure regulatory and organizational compliance
  • Support staff development through training, addressing operational questions, and reinforcing best practices; review and resolve escalated issues related to documentation, access, or compliance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve turnaround times; audit records for completeness and accuracy; ensure confidentiality and HIPAA compliance across all HIM processes

The Opportunity:

The Health Information Management (HIM) Supervisor oversees day-to-day HIM operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant handling of health records and information workflows. Coordinates team efforts and supporting quality and productivity standards across assigned functions. Coordinates daily HIM activities including record processing, release of information, and documentation integrity. Monitors team performance and provide guidance to ensure adherence to regulatory and organizational standards. Supports staff development by delivering training, answering operational questions, and reinforcing best practices. Reviews and resolves escalated issues related to documentation, access, or compliance. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to address and improve turnaround times. Audits records for completeness and accuracy. Ensures confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and other applicable regulations in all HIM processes.

Job Experience/People Leadership Experience

  • 1 to 3 Years

Education Level/Preferred Area of Study

  • Bachelors Degree or Equivalent Experience
  • Health Records Management / Medical Coding
Other Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent speaking and presentation skills required, working knowledge of electronic medical records and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficiency in keyboarding skills.
  • Ability to function independently, with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload
  • Prefer experience with EPIC and One Content, electronic medical record, training experience
