Controllership Manager – LATAM Real Estate Management Services – JLL

What this job involves:

We are seeking a talented Controllership Manager to join JLL's Real Estate Management Services (REMS) team, supporting operations across the LATAM region. Reporting to the LATAM Controller, this role is instrumental in maintaining the integrity of JLL's financial statements while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal policies. As a key financial leader, you'll oversee accounting operations for LATAM, manage a team of accounting professionals, and drive process improvements that enhance efficiency and accuracy. Your leadership, analytical skills, and technical proficiency will be critical in supporting month-end close processes, coordinating audits, ensuring compliance, and delivering comprehensive financial reporting that informs strategic business decisions across the region.
 

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Financial Oversight & Reporting Excellence You'll oversee consolidated financial statements for the LATAM region, reviewing for accuracy and ensuring strict compliance with US GAAP, local accounting standards, and JLL policies. Your comprehensive P&L and Balance Sheet commentary will provide meaningful insights into financial performance, analyzing variances and communicating results to finance and business leadership.

  • Process Management & Controls Managing multi-currency accounting, consolidations, and foreign exchange impact analysis will be central to your work. You'll oversee balance sheet reconciliation processes, reviewing key accounts while identifying opportunities for consistency improvements and process enhancements that drive operational excellence.

  • Audit Coordination & Compliance Supporting both internal and external audits, you'll coordinate documentation, lead process improvement initiatives, and implement best practices. Partnering closely with Global Accounting Compliance teams and external auditors, you'll address technical accounting matters, manage risk management activities, and ensure proper documentation of controls.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration Acting as the key liaison between REMS teams and other JLL functions including JBS, Tax, Treasury Management, and Global Technical Accounting, you'll ensure seamless coordination across the organization. Your ability to build consensus and maintain strong stakeholder relationships will be essential.

  • Team Leadership & Development Leading a team of accountants, you'll provide guidance, training, and career development opportunities while conducting performance evaluations. Your mentorship will help develop the next generation of accounting talent within JLL.

  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation You'll drive process enhancement initiatives by identifying automation opportunities and implementing improvements that increase efficiency and accuracy across accounting operations.

  • Technical Problem Resolution Identifying, escalating, and resolving accounting and internal control matters will require your analytical expertise. Maintaining clear communication with stakeholders throughout the resolution process ensures transparency and builds confidence.
     

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with a strong foundation in accounting principles and financial management

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience including a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or team leadership role demonstrating your ability to manage people and processes

  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish required for effective communication across the LATAM region with diverse stakeholders, teams, and leadership

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP with demonstrated experience performing accounting research and applying technical standards to complex scenarios

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems (PeopleSoft, Certinia, Sales Force, Oracle, or similar ERP systems) essential for managing financial data and reporting

  • Experience with multi-currency accounting, consolidations, and foreign exchange impact analysis required to handle the complexity of regional financial operations

  • Proven analytical mindset with ability to interpret financial results, identify trends, and communicate insights effectively to both finance and business leadership
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in professional services and multinational corporate environments providing exposure to complex organizational structures and diverse business models

  • Public accounting experience offering strong technical foundation and exposure to various industries and accounting challenges

  • Knowledge of real estate accounting principles and lease accounting standards (ASC 842) beneficial for understanding sector-specific requirements

  • Portuguese language proficiency advantageous for expanded regional communication and stakeholder engagement

  • Familiarity with financial system implementations helpful for supporting technology transformation initiatives

  • Experience with SOX compliance and internal controls testing valuable for ensuring robust control environments

  • Project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities across different time zones and countries effectively
