  • Highly proficient in Bengali (C2 CEFR) with the ability to read and write in Bengali
  • Familiarity with linguistics, grammar, and the writing system of Bengali; knowledge of colloquialisms and linguistic nuances
  • Strong written and email communication skills in English (English proficiency preferred)
  • Proficient computer and internet skills with ability to meet deadlines and perform web research

Requirements:

  • Carry out assigned language verification tasks, including creating tests, quality control of existing tests, evaluating test submissions, and QC of audio/video files
  • Meet assigned deadlines and report progress proactively to project managers
  • Communicate with project managers in a timely and effective manner via English email
  • Follow guidelines and requirements as dictated by the project manager

Job description

Bengali Language Verifier 

Location: Remote

Status: Project-Based  (Contract)

Compensation: a fixed fee

Benefits: Flexible schedule, work from home

 

JOB SUMMARY 

Language verifiers’ duties include creating language verification tests, quality control of existing language verification tests, evaluating language test submissions, and doing quality control on audio and video files. Language verifiers create language verification tests following detailed instructions that will be provided upon employment. The nature of the role is ongoing and project-based. The workload is dependent on project needs. Payment is based on work completed at the rates listed below. 

  • Language verification test review - USD $50, one-time fee
  • Language verification test grading - USD $15 per graded submission

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry out assigned tasks, see above
  • Meet assigned deadlines
  • Report progress in a proactive manner to project managers
  • Communicate with project managers in a timely and effective manner 
  • Follow guidelines and requirements as dictated by the project manager
  • Communicate in English with project managers via email (verbal communication is not required)
 

SKILLS

  • Highly proficient (C2 CEFR) in Bengali (bn_bd)
  • Ability to read and write in the required language, see above
  • Familiarity with linguistics, as well as grammar and writing system/s of the required language
  • Knowledge of colloquialisms, grammar, and linguistic idiosyncrasies unique to the required language
  • Ability to record yourself speaking clearly, in a quiet environment
  • Responsiveness to email
  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • A good command of English is preferred
 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Highly proficient (C2 CEFR) in the required language, including the ability to read and write. If you do not possess these characteristics, but wish to be considered for other roles, please submit your inquiry via our Jobseekers Inquiry form.
  • Previous professional experience working in the required language
  • Formal education in the required language, secondary school or higher, strongly preferred
  • Masters or Phd in Linguistics, Translation Studies, or the required language, preferred
  • Personal laptop or access to a computer

  • Payment methods are PayPal, Payoneer, or otherwise agreed-upon method
  • Payment will be made on a 30-day pay cycle
