The Junior EU Affairs Officer will be part of EU Affairs team within the Communications & EU Affairs department. They will report directly to the Head of EU Affairs. The role is based in Brussels and works in close coordination with the Head of EU Affairs and relevant colleagues across the organisation.
We are looking for a dedicated, outward-facing professional to work with our Head of EU Affairs in Brussels. The role focuses on supporting with relevant political and non-political engagements, managing specific project tasks, and engaging with external stakeholders where relevant.
This role requires a good level of understanding of EU policy making, expertise on the urban mobility sector, and a high level of ability to work autonomously. We are looking for a dedicated individual seeking to shape how Europe innovates in urban mobility with a passion for public, governmental and corporate affairs.
The successful candidate will support the Head of EU Affairs in carrying out the EU Affairs function and achieving its targets across reporting, advocacy, project management, and information and content management.
Key responsibilities
- Support with the implementation of the stakeholder engagement activities in Brussels in close collaboration with the Head of EU Affairs.
- In close coordination with the Head of EU Affairs, represent EIT Urban Mobility in selected meetings and events, contribute to stakeholder consultations and provide a feedback loop internally.
- Lead specific project tasks, managing the stakeholders involved, progressing the task, ensuring delivery in line with defined objectives and key performance indicators.
- Undertake research and gather objective evidence to support the policymaking process of the EU based on but not limited to EIT Urban Mobility’s results, highlights and KPIs.
- Monitor and assess policy developments by contributing to regular analysis on relevant policy files, regulatory initiatives and funding trends, including horizon scanning to inform decision-making.
- Support with the project management of the EU Affairs function, including, but not limited to
event organisation: logistics, minutes, concept note and agenda;
drafting emails, setting up meetings, providing briefings and minutes;
drafting high-level invitations.
- Coordinate closely with and contribute to the objectives of the Communications and EU Affairs team at EIT Urban Mobility’s headquarter, as required.
- Contribute to the financial and operational management in the EU Affairs function, including procurements, implementation of contracts, payments and reporting.
- Contribute to the achievement of the EIT Urban Mobility’s objectives through inputs to horizontal coordination activities, teamwork, proactive internal communication and inputs to the work of colleagues.
- Travel might be required for major EU events, key meetings with EU officials or stakeholders and for representation at EIT Urban Mobility’s flagship events.
What you will bring along the way:
Must-haves
- Initial experience in EU public affairs, policy or institutional relations, in mobility, innovation, cities, or sustainability.
- Graduate-level expertise in mobility, with knowledge of the EU urban mobility ecosystem and innovation policy landscape.
- Strong ability to deliver basic public affairs tasks such as event management, email drafting, briefing preparation and meeting documentation.
- Knowledge of EU institutions, decision-making processes and funding instruments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English (C1 level or above), both written and spoken.
- A profile that shows personal dedication for urban mobility and public affairs work.
- Self-starter with a hands-on attitude, able to manage specific project tasks independently while collaborating across teams.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience working in or with an EU institution or EU-funded programme or organisation.
- Additional EU languages are an asset.

Kindly note that this is a permanent and full-time position, and it is based in Brussels, Belgium.
