About Us

The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) is charged with implementing the state's public school laws for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade public schools at the direction of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and State Board of Education.

Description of Work

This position is responsible for documenting and facilitating the collection validation and processing of data used in the testing and accountability programs.

Job Responsibilities:

Document and facilitate processes and procedures used for collection and validation of data from internal and external sources.

Ensure the accurate processing of finalized data into the appropriate data systems.

Evaluate policy, processes and procedures making recommendations for improvement.

Provide support to NCDPI initiatives including participation in committees and presenting to stakeholders.

Develop, maintain and support systems used by stakeholders to submit and validate data.

Review and process data changes after collections have been completed

This is a homebased position within North Carolina and requires some travel.

Recruitment Range: $57,983 - $81,656

Supplemental Information:

The Office of Accountability and Testing is responsible for developing and implementing the Annual Testing Program in grades 3–12 and the school accountability program. To accomplish its mission, the office is comprised of four sections: Psychometric and Test Design, Testing Policy and Operations, Test Development, and Analysis and Reporting. The work of the office is organizationally and technically complex and requires the application of statistics, research and designs methods, and logistical planning and execution daily. Administrative and policy decision-making at the levels of the U.S. Department of Education, U. S. Congress, the North Carolina General Assembly, the State Board of Education, and the Department of Public Instruction directly and indirectly impact the office’s activities and its operations on a routine basis. The office’s work encompasses highly sensitive and confidential information/data as the assessment program generates results for individual students, teachers, schools, and school districts in the state for grades 3–12.
