Roles & Responsibilities

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in nursing, public health, health care administration, or related field; if bachelor’s, 3+ years of active QI involvement as a clinician or coordinating QI initiatives.
  • Experience in nursing homes, hospitals, clinics/practices, QIO or other health care QI entity, or state/local health department in chronic disease, infection prevention, or nursing home oversight; or health insurer/provider association in a QI role.
  • Familiarity with quality improvement methods and tools (root cause analysis, process/workflow mapping, run and control charts, Plan-Do-Study-Act, and QAPI).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build trusted advisor relationships with providers; comfortable working in a remote team; strong time management and Office 365 proficiency.

Requirements:

  • Provide improvement consultation and coaching to nursing homes, hospitals, or outpatient clinics; review quality measure data, assess needs, identify root causes, and develop action plans.
  • Guide providers toward performance and patient safety objectives through a structured, data-driven quality improvement program.
  • Collaborate with HQI colleagues, team leader, subject matter experts, analytics and communications teams in a remote, supportive environment.
  • Travel up to 15% regionally (Southeast) with occasional travel to Richmond for all-company meetings; participate in non-standard hours to support providers across time zones.

Health Quality Innovators (HQI) is actively seeking qualified quality improvement professionals to provide improvement consultation and coaching services to nursing homes, hospitals, or outpatient clinical practices across a diverse array of clinical and operational topics.


As a Quality Improvement Consultant (QIC), you will participate in a national program that sets the standard for performance excellence. You will provide services to nursing homes, hospitals, or outpatient clinical practices across a broad spectrum of clinical and operational topics. You will review quality measure data, assess needs, and identify root causes to develop action plans that guide the services offered to providers as they advance toward their objectives. You will learn from and be supported by QIC colleagues, your team leader, subject matter experts, and dedicated analytics and communications teams within HQI’s supportive, open, and collaborative work environment. 


This remote position presents a distinguished opportunity to transition from roles in health care delivery, public health, or government service while continuing to make a substantial impact on thousands of providers, patients, and families. 


We are searching for candidates residing in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, or Tennessee.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing, public health, health care administration, or related field. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree must have three or more years of experience actively participating in QI initiatives as a clinician or coordinating QI initiatives in another role.

Required

  • Experience working for any of the following: nursing home; hospital; practice or clinic; Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) or other health care QI entity; state or local health department in a chronic disease, infection prevention, or nursing home oversight role; health insurer or provider association in a QI role.
  • Familiarity with QI methods and tools, along with their practical application, such as root cause analysis techniques, process or workflow mapping, run and control charts, Plan-Do-Study-Act, and Performance Improvement (QAPI).
  • Ability to interpret data, such as performance on quality measures, and provide guidance on identifying and prioritizing opportunities for improvement.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to build trusted advisor relationships with providers.
  • Must be able to function effectively as a member of a remote team, manage multiple priorities, and be comfortable using good judgment to keep work moving in the absence of complete information.
  • Proficiency in Office 365, ability to learn new applications as required, and adept at time management.

Preferred 

  • Quality credentials include certifications like Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Certified Patient Safety Professional (CPPS), Six Sigma belts of any color, or training in Lean.
  • Credentials related to clinical or administrative roles include nursing, nursing home administration, or certifications in fields such as diabetes education, discharge planning, or care management.

Travel

  • Limited (<15%) state/regional travel may be required for QICs who reside in the Southeast to visit provider locations. Some non-standard hours may be required for QICs who reside outside the Eastern time zone to support providers or collaborate with colleagues. Travel to Richmond, Virginia, twice annually for all-company meetings is required.
