Research Associate
Research Associates (RAs) are expected to manage either one major data collection project or up to two minor data collection projects within a given period. Each RA reports functionally to the Project Manager (PM) overseeing the data collection cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support the Project Manager in the overall execution and management of research projects, with shared responsibility for assigned tasks
• Participate in the development and review of technical specifications for support programming (e.g., survey preprints, data entry forms, proofing tools, data assembly programs, and web-based surveys)
• Assist in designing, implementing, and executing quality assurance (QA) procedures and data cleansing processes
• Develop, document, and run database queries and reports to monitor project progress, ensure data quality, and support data extraction needs
• Supervise data collection workflows and review edited surveys for accuracy and quality control
• Evaluate the reliability of survey responses and apply editorial judgment to accept or reject data
• Support the development, testing, and deployment of online surveys and assist respondents as needed
• Participate in acceptance testing of database systems and online survey tools
• Coordinate and support survey distribution and data collection activities
• Track and log surveys throughout all project stages to monitor status, progress, and productivity
• Perform data cleaning in databases based on identified issues from editing, error checks, or PM feedback
• Conduct initial and secondary editing and verification of survey data using established editing standards
• Follow up on missing or incomplete survey responses and gather required data elements
• Persistently follow up to obtain required data and document all efforts and outcomes
• Proofread surveys, page proofs, and error reports to ensure accuracy of keyed data and database records
Requirements
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Social Sciences, Computer Science, or a related field
• Experience in research, data collection, data analysis, or survey operations is an advantage
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy in handling data
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data management tools
• Familiarity with databases, survey systems, or data entry platforms is a plus
• Ability to interpret data and apply editorial or quality judgment
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines
