Regional Manager, APAC - CONTRACT REMOTE POSITION in APAC


CONTRACT ROLE SUMMARY

 

The Regional Manager, APAC is responsible for supporting GBTA’s strategic growth and stakeholder engagement within the APAC market. This role will work closely with regional leadership, members, volunteers, and cross-functional teams to execute region-wide strategies, drive membership and sponsorship growth, manage budgets and reporting, and ensure effective governance and communications. The Regional Manager serves as the primary market lead, advancing the association’s mission, strengthening partnerships, and delivering high-impact programs and events aligned with regional and global objectives.

 

Candidate is ideally located in China or Japan. 


SCOPE OF WORK - RESPONSIBILITIES

 

    Region Management



    • Partner with the EVP, Global Operations and Senior Director, APAC to operationalize the regional strategy across China and Japan ensuring alignment with global priorities while addressing local market nuances.
    • Work with Senior Director and Advisory Board members to develop and implement a marketing and promotional plan for GBTA China and Japan to engage key stakeholders groups.
    • Support regional growth planning by identifying emerging trends, market opportunities, and potential risks impacting member engagement, sponsorship, and programming success.
    • Support organizational initiatives that advance APAC’s integration into GBTA’s global mission and strategy.


    Event Management



    • Lead end-to-end coordination of regional Business Travel Forums, conferences, and webinars across China and Japan, and ensure delivery of high-quality participant experiences through effective stakeholder coordination and execution discipline.
    • Oversee operational planning including:
      • Venue sourcing and vendor coordination
      • Event timelines, agendas, and execution frameworks
      • Speaker engagement and logistics (travel, materials, preparation)
    • Manage post-event evaluation processes, including analysis of feedback and speaker performance to inform continuous improvement.



    Memberships



    • Collaborate with the APAC team to develop and implement membership growth strategies across diverse industry segments.
    • Support member lifecycle initiatives including recruitment, onboarding, retention, and renewal efforts.
    • Enhance the regional member experience by identifying engagement opportunities tailored to local market needs.


    Sponsorship



    • Work in partnership with the Business Development team to support achievement of regional sponsorship targets by identifying and cultivating local sponsorship opportunities to support regional programming and events.
    • Facilitate the integration and execution of global sponsor relationships within the APAC region.


    Communication and Media Outreach



    • Serve as regional liaison to Marketing and Communications on APAC regional news, updates, events, and happenings.
    • Support marketing and member information through regional social media (LinkedIn, WeChat for China) with GBTA news.
    • Drive participation and engagement in GBTA’s online community “The Hub” to enhance member engagement and value.
    • Maintain relationships with relevant local media to elevate GBTA’s regional profile.


    Volunteer Management



    • Support Advisory Board by assisting with board meeting planning, agenda development, and documentation.
    • Act as key point of contact for China Advisory Board, as well as regional volunteers.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    CONTRACT DETAILS

    • Remote. Active Passport required. 
    • Ideally located in China or Japan. 


    SCOPE OF WORK - REQUIREMENTS

     

    • Bachelor's degree or related field experience.  
    • Minimum 3 years of project management/coordination, event, or operations experience.
    • Experience with corporate travel industry.
    • Detail oriented and highly organized.
    • Strong technical skills, including cloud-based systems.  Must have a high level of skills in MS Office Suite, Zoom, CRM and project management systems.
    • Excellent interpersonal (oral and written) communication, time management, administrative, multitasking, and organizational skills.
    • Must have the ability to manage and track deadlines and action items, and professionally secure answers from internal and external staff on deadline items.
    • Customer service and solutions focused.
    • Advanced English language skills.
    • Active passport and ability to travel international.


    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS 

     

        • Cvent and Clear Vantage experience are preferred.
        • Thrive in a fast-paced working environment.
        • Experience supporting trade show events.
        • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to take orders, and ability to show tact and deference towards those in positions of authority and greater responsibility. 
        • Must be flexible, detail oriented, well organized, and be able to think on their feet. 


        PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

         

        • Remote work environment.
        • Prolonged periods sitting/remaining stationary at a desk and working on a computer.
        • Must be able to remain stationary and move for long periods of time, during events.
        • Must be able to work a variety of hours in order to accommodate various meetings and events.

        TRAVEL REQUIRED


        • Up to 15% of travel to APAC Regional events, GBTA related events and meetings, based on organizational needs.
