Job Description:

Coaction is currently building out a unit in the Commercial E & S Property space. We are looking for talented and driven underwriting candidates to help us achieve our growth and profitability goals. The Underwriter will be responsible for developing and managing a book of profitable Commercial E&S Property business. The candidate will also be responsible for building and maintaining effective relationships with our select wholesale distribution partners. Finally, as with all Coaction employees, they will be responsible for helping generate and execute true differentiated coverage and services the unit.

Responsibilities:

  • Account level evaluation, application of terms and price selection

  • Underwrites within established program guidelines and or underwriting authority

  • Works with Home Office Underwriting and distribution to define program parameters

  • Sells the product/program advantages of Coaction in such a way as to differentiate Coaction from its competitors

  • Works in conjunction with the Home Office Underwriting team to audits our distribution partners

  • Manages assigned books or Programs so as to build sustainable long term relationships

  • Drives product/service/selection/pricing innovation for assigned book or Program

  • Works with actuarial to best understand trends within the book or program and how to react accordingly

  • Ultimately rewarded for building a growing portfolio that is profitable and sustainable over the long term

Qualifications:

  • Previous underwriting experience with an established book and broker relations required

  • West coast and/or mid-west wholesale broker relations preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in business or a related field

  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Suite with specific emphasis on Excel

  • Superior communication and organizational skills

  • Strong customer-oriented product management skills

  • CPCU or ARM preferred

  • You have demonstrated the ability to articulate a vision for your line of business and the necessary skills to prioritize what is required to accomplish it

  • You have an excellent ability to consult, influence, and manage business partners. Ability to drive efforts and projects through relationships and a broad knowledge base.

  • You demonstrate personal accountability and integrity, and an ability to build strong, productive relationships across business.

  • Strong track record of solving complex problems, designing creative strategies, and delivering significant impact as a manager and a leader. You challenge the status quo to dig deep to get to the root cause of any issue.

  • You are a credible source of information and could challenge and influence decision makers with your excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Salary range specific to for this role : $116,000-$152,000 + discretionary incentive bonus + benefits depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, and qualifications.  In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
