About this Role:
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Cost Manager to serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert (SME) across our national portfolio. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for overseeing electrical cost management services, advising clients, and driving consistency and excellence in cost deliverables.
This position extends beyond estimating to include strategic advisory, risk management, team leadership, and business development, supporting some of the most complex and high-value capital programs in the market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead electrical cost management for large, complex, multi-phase programs
- Develop program-level budgets, parametric models, and lifecycle cost analyses
- Advise clients on:
- Feasibility and funding alignment
- Procurement strategies and phasing
- Escalation, market volatility, and supply chain risk
- Serve as firm-wide SME across electrical systems including:
- Power distribution and substations
- Emergency and standby power systems (generators, UPS)
- Lighting and controls
- Low-voltage systems (telecom, data, security, AV)
- Fire alarm and life safety systems
- Renewable energy systems (solar, battery storage, microgrids)
- Lead design reviews (SD/DD/CD) to identify:
- Scope gaps and coordination issues
- Constructability challenges
- Cost and schedule risks
- Direct preparation and validation of:
- Detailed estimates
- Change orders and claims
- Independent cost opinions
- Ensure alignment with:
- Market conditions and labor availability
- Accurate productivity assumptions
- Realistic procurement and installation sequencing
- Lead electrical-focused value engineering workshops
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through:
- System alternatives
- Equipment selection
- Distribution strategies
- Balance cost with performance, resiliency, and lifecycle value
- Serve as a trusted advisor to owners and stakeholders
- Lead executive presentations and cost discussions
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights
- Build long-term client relationships and drive repeat business
- Mentor and develop estimators and cost managers
- Lead training initiatives in:
- Electrical systems
- Advanced estimating methodologies
- Market trends and cost drivers
- Support national workload planning and resource allocation
- Lead QA/QC processes across electrical scope
- Maintain expertise in:
- Labor markets
- Material pricing (e.g., copper, switchgear, transformers)
- Supply chain and lead times
- Contribute to benchmarking tools and cost data strategy
- Support proposals, pursuits, and client interviews
- Contribute to fee development and scope definition
- Identify opportunities for service expansion
- Drive continuous improvement in processes and technology
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in:
- Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in electrical cost estimating and cost management
- Proven leadership on large, complex capital programs
- Deep expertise in electrical systems and construction methodologies
- Strong understanding of:
- Cost modeling and benchmarking
- Construction sequencing and logistics
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Lead teams and mentor staff
- Serve as a senior advisor to clients
- Strong communication, leadership, and business acumen
