Network Engineer (remote Europe and UK)

Job description

This is a hands-on network engineering role with a strong automation focus. You will design, operate, and evolve enterprise network infrastructure across data centre, on-premises, and edge environments — treating network configuration as code, not as a series of manual changes. There is a complex, regulated environment that needs modern engineering practices applied to networking — and we need someone who finds that motivating.

You will be expected to bring a DevOps mindset to everything you touch: infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines for network changes, automated firewall lifecycle management, and observability that actually tells you what is happening. You will work closely with Cloud Platform, Security, and product teams to keep connectivity reliable, secure, and auditable.

At a Glance

  • Location: Remote, based in Europe or the UK
  • Contract: Employment, Contractor
  • Focus: Enterprise networking with a Network-as-Code approach — data centre, edge, interconnect, and firewall management
  • Scope: Hands-on engineering and automation, working across infrastructure and security boundaries

About Revolgy

Revolgy is a leading multinational provider of digital transformation services, helping over 2,000 clients worldwide get the most from Google Cloud Platform, Google Workspace, and Amazon Web Services. As a Premier Partner of Google, we deliver programmes of real scale and complexity — and we are now strengthening our infrastructure engineering capability to match.

What We Offer

Infrastructure That Rewards Good Engineering — You will work in an environment where automating a process is valued more than running it manually. If you have ever been frustrated by teams that treat networking as a point-and-click discipline, this is not that.

Real Cross-Team Collaboration — You will work directly with Cloud Platform, Security, and product teams. Network engineering here is not siloed — it is part of how we deliver reliable, secure services.

A Regulated Environment Done Right — We operate in environments where compliance, change management, and audit trails matter. You will help us meet those requirements through engineering, not bureaucracy.

Investment in Your Growth — We support professional development and certifications. Our continuous learning mindset is built into how we work, not just what we say.

Automation-First Culture — Infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD for network changes, and automated policy enforcement are the baseline here, not aspirations. You will be expected — and empowered — to push that further.

What You Will Work On

You will own the engineering and automation of enterprise network infrastructure across data centre, on-premises, and edge environments. In practice, that means:

  • Network-as-Code — building and maintaining network configurations using Terraform, Ansible, and/or Python, with Git-based workflows and peer review as standard practice
  • CI/CD for infrastructure — operating pipelines for network changes with plan/apply separation, policy checks, rollback capability, and audit evidence
  • Firewall management — hands-on work with FortiGate and Palo Alto platforms, including automated rule lifecycle management covering reviews, attestations, and cleanup
  • Edge and interconnect — managing routing to and from cloud environments and coordinating with cloud platform teams to keep connectivity reliable
  • Security-by-design — applying segmentation, Zero Trust principles, NAC, and perimeter protection across the estate
  • Observability and reliability — implementing and maintaining monitoring, alerting, NetFlow analysis, incident response, and post-incident reviews
  • Compliance support — contributing to change management, audit preparation, and regulatory requirements in a regulated operating environment

What Makes You a Fit

You will need:

  • 3–5 years of experience in enterprise networking — data centre, on-premises, and edge connectivity — with a clear automation and DevOps mindset
  • Hands-on experience with Network-as-Code using Terraform, Ansible, and/or Python, including Git-based workflows and peer reviews
  • Practical experience operating CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure changes, including plan/apply separation, policy checks, and rollback procedures
  • Solid working knowledge of firewall technologies, particularly FortiGate and Palo Alto, and experience with automated firewall rule lifecycle management
  • Experience with edge and interconnect networking, including routing to and from cloud environments
  • Familiarity with security-by-design concepts: segmentation, Zero Trust, NAC, and perimeter protection
  • Experience with network observability tooling — NetFlow, monitoring, alerting, incident response, and post-incident reviews
  • Comfort working in regulated environments, supporting change management, audits, and compliance requirements
  • Strong documentation and collaboration skills — you can work effectively with Cloud Platform, Security, and product teams

You will stand out if you also bring:

  • Experience with Cloudflare — DNS, WAF, DDoS protection, or Zero Trust
  • Exposure to financial services or other highly regulated industries
  • Familiarity with DORA or ECB-style operational resilience and network controls

You will thrive here if you:

  • Default to automating rather than clicking — you see manual network changes as technical debt, not business as usual
  • Can explain infrastructure decisions clearly to people outside your discipline — without drowning them in protocol details and without oversimplifying
  • Take ownership of reliability — when something breaks, you want to understand why and make sure it does not happen again
  • See compliance as an engineering problem, not a paperwork exercise

Our Process

We keep our hiring process efficient and transparent. Here is what to expect:

  1. Integrated Application – Apply directly through our career page with a streamlined form and a brief video intro, allowing you to introduce yourself on your own schedule.
  2. People & Culture Call (60 min) – A Google Meet conversation about your background and approach, with exercises and puzzles to understand how you think.
  3. Meet the Team (60 min) – You will meet your future collaborators and work through role-specific exercises – the kind you would encounter on the job.
  4. Alignment & Offer – We align on scope, rate, timeline, and ways of working before getting started.
