Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Oil & Gas Landman specializing in Title Curative to join our team. This role is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and resolving title defects to ensure clear ownership and marketable title for oil and gas assets. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in title research, curative processes, and a deep understanding of mineral ownership and regulatory requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze title opinions, run sheets, and ownership reports to identify title defects and discrepancies
  • Perform curative work to resolve issues such as heirship, probate, missing interests, unreleased liens, and conflicting ownership claims
  • Prepare and obtain necessary curative documents including affidavits, stipulations of interest, ratifications, and releases
  • Collaborate with attorneys, title examiners, and internal teams to clear title requirements in a timely manner
  • Conduct courthouse research (in-person or online) to verify ownership and supporting documentation
  • Maintain accurate records of curative efforts, status updates, and completed resolutions
  • Ensure compliance with state regulations and company standards for title requirements
  • Communicate professionally with mineral owners, operators, and stakeholders to facilitate curative solutions

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3+ years of Oil & Gas Landman experience, with a strong focus on title curative
  • Proven experience resolving complex title defects in multiple states (Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, North Dakota preferred)
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Mineral and leasehold ownership
    • Title opinions and division order requirements
    • Probate and heirship processes
  • Ability to read and interpret legal documents, deeds, leases, and contracts
  • Experience working with courthouse records (both physical and online systems)
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter who can manage workload independently and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPL (Certified Professional Landman) or actively working toward certification
  • Experience with HBP (Held By Production) projects
  • Familiarity with title software and digital courthouse platforms
  • Prior experience working with attorneys or in a title/legal support role
