HSSE Contractor Safety Lead - JLL

What this job involves:

This is a pivotal global role where you'll architect and drive JLL's contractor safety strategy across our worldwide portfolio. As the HSSE Contractor Safety Lead, you'll design a world-class framework that transforms how we manage contractor risk—making safety simple, effective, and seamlessly integrated into our operations. Working at the intersection of policy development, stakeholder engagement, and practical implementation, you'll build comprehensive resources, forge strategic partnerships across business lines, and establish measurement systems that drive continuous improvement. This role offers the opportunity to create lasting impact on the safety of thousands of contractors while influencing best practices across one of the world's leading commercial real estate firms. Reporting directly to the Global HSSE Centre of Excellence Operations Lead, you'll be both strategist and builder, partnering with Regional HSSEQ Leads, Sourcing & Procurement, Engineering, Risk & Compliance, and operational teams to embed safety excellence throughout our contractor ecosystem.

What your day-to-day will look like:

• Designing comprehensive contractor safety policies, standards, procedures, and practical toolkits including RAMS requirements, digital inductions, inspection templates, and the global "Contractor Safety Playbook" that operational teams can immediately apply in the field.

• Collaborating with Sourcing & Procurement leaders to embed robust safety criteria into tender documents, contracts, and supplier performance frameworks, ensuring safety is integrated from the first touchpoint with contractors.

• Partnering with regional and business line leaders to develop tailored implementation roadmaps, providing hands-on expert guidance and support as teams deploy new contractor safety processes across diverse operational environments.

• Establishing and leading a global network of "Contractor Safety Champions" who drive local adoption, gather feedback, and serve as your eyes and ears across our portfolio, while conducting deep-dive analyses of contractor incidents and near-misses to identify systemic risks.

• Overseeing a modern assurance program that verifies both compliance and operational effectiveness, managing global performance dashboards with leading and lagging indicators, and conducting trend analysis to inform preventative strategies.

• Preparing compelling business cases and communication plans to secure stakeholder buy-in for program investments, presenting periodic business reviews to senior leadership on program performance, challenges, and improvement initiatives.

• Acting as the primary HSSE subject matter expert in cross-functional projects involving contractor safety technology implementations, partnering with the Critical Controls Lead to design proactive verification protocols for high-risk contractor activities and life-saving controls.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of HSSE management experience within operational management systems, with demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing contractor safety programs across complex, multi-site property portfolios.

• Proven experience implementing HSSE technology platforms and data management tools across multiple countries and regions, with the ability to drive digital transformation in safety management.

• Demonstrated ability to develop comprehensive safety policies, standards, procedures, and practical resources that can be deployed at scale across diverse operational environments.

• Strong track record of stakeholder engagement at senior levels, including proven ability to influence cross-functional teams, build strategic partnerships, and secure buy-in for program investments.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English with demonstrated ability to translate complex technical data into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences from frontline teams to C-suite executives.

• Experience conducting data analysis and developing performance metrics, including designing dashboards, analyzing incident trends, and using insights to drive continuous improvement and preventative strategies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience within the commercial real estate, facilities management, or property services sector with understanding of the unique contractor safety challenges in managed property environments.

• Familiarity with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, or other international HSSE management system standards and their practical application in contractor management frameworks.

• Professional HSSE certification such as NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH, CSP, or equivalent international safety credential demonstrating advanced technical knowledge.

• Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning development, particularly in creating digital safety induction programs and online training modules.

• Working knowledge of procurement processes and contract management, including how safety requirements are embedded in tender documentation and supplier performance frameworks.

• Project management experience or certification with demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives across time zones and cultural contexts.

• Change management skills and experience driving organizational transformation, including ability to simplify complexity and make safety programs accessible and actionable for diverse audiences.

• Second language proficiency in addition to English, particularly languages prevalent in JLL's major operational markets.
