Job description

Description

We’re looking for a product engineer who uses AI fluently in their daily workflow and is excited to help build and improve the core platform behind Devolens, our cloud-based software licensing solution. In this role, you’ll own customer-facing features end-to-end across backend systems and server-rendered UI, collaborating to ship improvements and new features, solve real customer problems, and modernize a proven .NET application.

Why Devolens?

Devolens builds a software licensing platform that helps software vendors securely monetize their applications. We give our customers the tools to control access, distribute updates, automate payments, and understand how their products are being used.

We’re a small, highly talented team building a product that matters deeply to the businesses that rely on it. Our work is practical, customer-driven, and focused on shipping improvements that solve real problems. We care about quality and long-term maintainability while moving fast and improving the system step by step.

This role is hybrid or remote. You can work remotely most of the time, with occasional meetings on-site in Stockholm.

Who we are looking for

  • 5+ years of experience building production web applications with C#/.NET, or equivalent depth of experience
  • Detail-oriented, with a bias for action and a strong sense of what good looks like
  • You use AI tools effectively in your daily workflow to move faster, improve quality, and reduce repetitive work
  • Strong hands-on experience with ASP.NET MVC, Web API, and server-rendered web applications
  • A solid understanding of API design, authentication, authorization, and backwards compatibility
  • Experience working in a mature production application where feature delivery and maintenance go hand in hand
  • Confidence owning work end-to-end: clarifying requirements, proposing solutions, shipping safely, and following through on outcomes
  • Strong engineering judgment — you know how to balance speed, simplicity, and long-term maintainability
  • A product mindset: you care about solving customer problems, not just closing tickets

What you’ll do

  • Build and own features across our C# backend and ASP.NET MVC / Razor frontend
  • Design and implement Web API endpoints and integrate them into views and pages
  • Work on authentication and authorization across both API and UI, including accounts, roles, and permissions
  • Develop and polish Razor and Bootstrap interfaces, including forms, tables, validation, and user flows
  • Take customer feedback, clarify requirements, and turn ambiguous problems into practical solutions
  • Drive technical design for larger features, document tradeoffs, and propose incremental approaches
  • Improve quality through code reviews, better patterns, focused testing, and reducing recurring support issues
  • Own operability for what you ship through logging, metrics, error handling, and safe rollouts
  • Help drive debugging and incident resolution, and build internal tooling that shortens time to resolution
  • Help set the standard in a small team through pairing, reviews, and thoughtful technical leadership

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys improving a real, revenue-generating product and making pragmatic architectural progress without large rewrites.

Our current stack

We work in a production C#/.NET Framework monolith that we improve continuously:

  • Backend: C#, .NET Framework, Web API
  • Frontend: ASP.NET MVC, Razor, Bootstrap 3, with light JavaScript where needed
  • Architecture: a mature monolith being modernized incrementally over time
  • Delivery focus: safe rollouts, measurable outcomes, and pragmatic improvement

What we offer

  • Competitive compensation based on experience and scope
  • Flexible working hours in a hybrid/remote environment
  • A role with meaningful ownership, impact, and room for professional growth
  • Extra benefits
