SUMMARY

 

The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing raw materials, components, and services to support production in a fast-paced injection molding environment. This role ensures material availability aligns with production schedules while optimizing cost, quality, and supplier performance using the IQMS ERP/MRP system.

 

 

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and execute purchasing activities based on MRP signals within IQMS
  • Procure raw materials (resins, colorants, additives), packaging, and indirect supplies
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure material availability to meet production demands
  • Review and act on system-generated purchase suggestions and reorder points
  • Maintain accurate purchase orders, pricing, and supplier data in IQMS
  • Communicate with production, scheduling, and engineering teams to align supply with demand
  • Track and expedite orders to prevent shortages or production downtime
  • Resolve supplier issues related to quality, delivery, and pricing
  • Analyze purchasing data to identify cost savings and efficiency improvements
  • Support new product launches with material sourcing and supplier qualification
  • Maintain proper documentation and ensure compliance with company and industry standards
Remote Position: false Min Compensation : USD $65,000.00/Yr. Max Compensation : USD $80,000.00/Yr. Qualifications:

SKILLS 

  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
  • Ability to read and interpret MRP data and production schedules
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Effective communication across departments and with external suppliers
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to work under pressure
  • Time management and ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment
  • Knowledge of plastic resins (e.g., Nylon, PP, ABS) and supply chain dynamics
  • Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives
  • Familiarity with supplier quality requirements in manufacturing
  • Office-based role with regular interaction on the production floor
  • Fast-paced environment driven by production schedules and customer demand

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of purchasing or supply chain experience, preferably in manufacturing or plastics
  • Experience in injection molding environment strongly preferred
  • Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems (IQMS experience highly preferred)
  • Strong understanding of inventory control and material planning concepts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis
