Founded in 2013, Amach was created to solve a specific problem in aviation: too much complexity, too little usable intelligence. We help airlines modernise their operating model using cloud, data and Al-delivered by teams with deep aviation domain expertise.

Our goal is to maximize airlines' operational efficiency by optimizing resource use, reduce costs and increase customer experience and satisfaction.

We are seeking a Senior Java Engineer to be embedded with our customer, a leading aviation industry operator, where you will work closely with their cross-functional engineering teams to deliver critical software projects within their engineering programme. You will bring technical maturity and deep expertise in Java and Spring Boot to architect and build cloud-native applications, while mentoring junior team members and raising the quality bar across their product delivery. This fully remote role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on systems that power modern aviation operations.

Key responsibilities:

Work with the customer's Product Owner and team to define User Story Acceptance Criteria and Definition of Done, ensuring testability and enabling effective release planning
Collaborate with the customer's Quality Engineers to identify appropriate test scenarios for automation and build, maintain and expand existing automation test suites that provide comprehensive coverage for both new and existing features
Automate newly integrated features and develop relevant toolsets while closely working with other engineers across the customer's product teams to deliver the highest quality products in a cost-effective manner
Work closely with QA and software engineers across the customer's other Product Teams to leverage experience and technical solutions for mutual benefit
Contribute to transparent quality reporting that demonstrates automated test coverage at each level, execution results and easy to read outputs
Review the customer's product requirements and functional and design specifications to determine and prepare automated test cases, while developing and implementing robust production monitoring and alerting solutions to ensure system reliability and proactively identify and resolve issues
Recognise areas for improvement across the customer's product, process, tooling and ways of working to identify quality approaches that benefit the broader organisation, collaborate with other senior engineers to prototype and deliver proof-of-concepts showcasing new capabilities, and mentor junior team members through structured code reviews aimed at uplifting less experienced engineers

Required Skills:

Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent formal training
5 or more years of work experience across multiple technology disciplines
Expert-level Java including performance tuning and JVM internals
Deep understanding of Spring Boot and skilled in designing, implementing and versioning RESTful services in a microservices environment
Strong hands-on experience with AWS services, Git-based workflows, SonarQube and Jenkins
Strong quality and testing discipline to ensure test coverage enforcement and active participation in Agile and Scrum ceremonies, backlog grooming and iterative planning
Strong ownership of production systems with a mentorship mindset, ability to lead structured code reviews and foster a culture of learning, knowledge sharing and innovation
Strong communication skills with the ability to write technical specifications, RFCs and architectural documentation

Nice to have:

Experience in the aviation industry
Comfortable working with Product Managers, Architects and DevOps teams
Knowledge of circuit breakers, retries, backpressure and graceful degradation patterns
Experience with techniques for safe, incremental feature rollout
