Product Manager

Job description

At Hudl, we build great teams. We hire the best of the best to ensure you’re working with people you can constantly learn from. You’re trusted to get your work done your way while testing the limits of what’s possible and what’s next. We work hard to provide a culture where everyone feels supported, and our employees feel it—their votes helped us become one of Newsweek's Top 100 Global Most Loved Workplaces.

We think of ourselves as the team behind the team, supporting the lifelong impact sports can have: the lessons in teamwork and dedication; the influence of inspiring coaches; and the opportunities to reach new heights. That’s why we help teams from all over the world see their game differently. Our products make it easier for coaches and athletes at any level to capture video, analyze data, share highlights and more.

Your Role

We’re hiring a Product Manager for American Football who is accountable for the end-to-end success of large-scale initiatives, defining the strategic vision and translating it into market impact. This role leads cross-functional teams through both discovery and delivery, ensuring our technical outputs result in measurable business outcomes. This role balances being highly strategic and highly operational.  We are building out our product suite and need someone to help us get where we need to go in the US American Football market.

As a Product Manager, you’ll:

  • Set outcomes and prioritization. You’ll define the outcomes for your football initiatives and evangelize the desired customer and business results to your squad and the company.
  • Lead discovery and delivery. You’ll ensure the product backlog is transparent and prioritized while leading discovery efforts to reduce value, viability, usability, and feasibility risks before development.
  • Drive product viability. You’ll ensure solutions work within business constraints by contributing a solid knowledge of marketing, sales, finance, legal, and privacy requirements.
  • Champion the user. You’ll live on the ground floor by regularly interacting with customers to gain empathy, synthesizing quantitative and qualitative data to drive product improvements.
  • Influence the roadmap. You’ll contribute to the long-term football strategy and roadmap, using data and logic to influence your teammates, stakeholders, and executives.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts. You’ll collaborate closely with engineers, design, and release teams to ensure solutions are successfully delivered to the market.

Our priority is to hire someone for this role who lives near our office in Lincoln, Nebraska, but we're also open to remote candidates who live in the following states: AL, FL, GA, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, MA, MI, MN, MO, NE, NH, NC, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, VA, WI, WY. We are not open to considering candidates in other locations at this time.

Please note that this role includes travel for training, attending clinics, and working with users up to 20% of the time.

Must-Haves

  • Experienced in product management. You have 2–5 years of experience as a Product Manager, or experience as an Associate Product Manager.
  • An American football expert. You are an acknowledged expert on your target users and can keep up with a high school or college coach when the topic of a 2-high safety defense comes up.
  • SaaS experience. You have worked in software-as-a-service companies that serve clients.
  • Process proficient. You have a strong understanding of product discovery and delivery techniques, knowing how to tackle risks up front and optimize products once they are live.
  • A collaborative leader. You work effectively with cross-functional partners and can influence and inspire people without direct management authority.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Sports technology experience. You’ve spent time building data analysis, video, or recruiting platforms used by coaches, athletes, or fans.
  • Business and product operational knowledge. You are an expert on how your product works and can effectively demo, train, and handle live customer support inquiries.
  • Strategic foresight. You track industry trends and the competitive landscape to provide forecasts and projections for your market.

Our Role

  • Champion work-life harmony. We’ll give you the flexibility you need in your work life (e.g., flexible vacation time, company-wide holidays and timeout (meeting-free) days, remote work options and more) so you can enjoy your personal life too.
  • Guarantee autonomy. We have an open, honest culture and we trust our people from day one. Your team will support you, but you’ll own your work and have the agency to try new ideas.
  • Encourage career growth. We’re lifelong learners who encourage professional development. We’ll give you tons of resources and opportunities to keep growing.
  • Provide an environment to help you succeed. We've invested in our offices, designing incredible spaces with our employees in mind. But whether you’re at the office or working remotely, we’ll provide you the tech stack and hardware to do your best work.
  • Support your mental and physical health. We care about our employees’ wellbeing. Our Employee Assistance Program, employee resource groups and fitness partner Peerfit have you covered.
  • Cover your medical insurance. We have multiple plans to pick from to ensure you’ll have the coverage you (and your dependents) want, including vision, dental, fertility healthcare and family forming benefits.
  • Contribute to your 401(K). Yep, that’s free money. We’ll match up to 4% of your own contribution.

We make compensation decisions based on an individual's experience, skills and education in line with our internal pay equity practices.

This role will also be eligible for a long-term incentive (LTI) award. Any bonuses awarded are based on individual and company performance paid at Hudl's discretion.

Inclusion at Hudl

Hudl is an equal opportunity employer. Through our actions, behaviors and attitude, we’ll create an environment where everyone, no matter their differences, feels like they belong.

We offer resources to ensure our employees feel safe bringing their authentic selves to work, including employee resource groups and communities. But we recognize there’s ongoing work to be done, which is why we track our efforts and commitments in annual inclusion reports

We also know imposter syndrome is real and the confidence gap can get in the way of meeting spectacular candidates. Please don’t hesitate to apply—we’d love to hear from you.
