POSITION SUMMARY

CUSG provides website development, hosting, and enterprise SaaS platforms to over 2,500 credit unions, financial institutions, and other verticals nationwide. The Web Hosting Manager plays a key role in maintaining the reliability, security, and performance of those platforms.

This position manages day-to-day hosting operations and supports the infrastructure team in running complex, multi-tenant hosting environments on AWS. The role works in close coordination with an external Managed Services Provider (MSP), reports directly to the CTO, and maintains regular interaction with the CISO on security and compliance matters.

The Web Hosting Manager is a technically grounded individual who balances operational execution with forward-looking platform improvement, contributing to cloud optimization, cost efficiency, and disaster resilience initiatives.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cloud Infrastructure & Operations: Support the health and day-to-day operations of CUSG’s AWS-hosted platforms including compute, storage, networking, databases, and CDN. Coordinate with the MSP on SLAs, change management, escalation paths, and optimization initiatives.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain security protocols, assist with vulnerability management, and support incident response practices for financial services environments. Partner with the CISO on security posture, compliance requirements, and audit readiness. Work with the MSP to uphold unified security standards across all managed components.
  • Platform Operations & Support: Provide technical input into hosting platform evaluations and support architecture reviews and transition planning as directed by the Director of Platform Engineering.
  • Team Participation: Contribute to a culture of operational excellence and continuous learning. Coordinate with technical leads on project initiatives.
  • MSP & Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with third-party vendors including the MSP supporting AWS operations. Work alongside the CTO to help enforce SLAs and maintain clear operational handoff protocols between internal teams and external partners.
  • Capacity Planning & Performance: Monitor resource utilization and assist with capacity forecasting. Support optimization efforts through load balancing, caching, auto-scaling, and CDN strategies. Coordinate with the MSP on provisioning timelines.
  • Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity: Maintain and test backup strategies, DR runbooks, and recovery procedures in collaboration with the CTO, CISO, and Security Team, including MSP-managed components.
  • Budget Support: Monitor and provide hosting operations spend data to the CTO to support cloud cost governance and resource optimization decisions.
  • Incident Management: Participate in on-call rotations alongside the CTO and CISO. Contribute to post-incident reviews and joint escalation protocols with the MSP.
  • Documentation: Maintain up-to-date documentation of architecture, configurations, runbooks, and procedures, including shared documentation with the MSP on responsibilities and handoffs.


SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years in infrastructure engineering, platform operations, or hosting management


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong working knowledge of AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, CloudFront, VPC, IAM)
  • Solid understanding of web servers (IIS, Apache, Nginx), databases (MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB), and runtimes (Node.js, .NET, PHP/LAMP)
  • Grounding in networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, load balancing)
  • Experience in regulated or compliance-sensitive environments
  • Experience coordinating with Managed Services Providers, including shared runbooks and escalation procedures
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, or equivalent)
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, ECS/EKS) and serverless architecture
  • Experience supporting multi-tenant SaaS platforms at scale
  • Credit union, banking, or fintech background

Position may require light travel as needed to support clients and/or attend company events.

In alignment with pay transparency laws and our compensation philosophy, the expected hiring range for this position is $106,046.74 - $132,558.42 annually. This range reflects our commitment to internal equity and external competitiveness. Actual pay will depend on experience, qualifications, and budget considerations.
