Job description

Madrigal is a biopharmaceutical company focused on delivering novel therapeutics for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), a serious liver disease that can progress to cirrhosis, liver failure, need for liver transplantation and premature mortality. Every member of our Madrigal team is connected by our shared purpose: leading the fight against MASH.

Madrigal’s medication, Rezdiffra (resmetirom), is a once-daily, oral, liver-directed THR-β agonist designed to target key underlying causes of MASH. Rezdiffra is the first and only medication approved by both the FDA and European Commission for the treatment of MASH with moderate to advanced fibrosis (F2 to F3). An ongoing Phase 3 outcomes trial is evaluating Rezdiffra for the treatment of compensated MASH cirrhosis (F4c).

Our success is driven by our people. We are building a dynamic, inclusive, and high-performing culture that values scientific excellence, operational rigor, and collaboration. To support our continued growth, we are strengthening our workforce strategy to ensure we have the right talent, at the right time, in the right way.

The Grants Manager is responsible for the administrative activities and day-to-day management of grants supporting Madrigal’s Continuing Medical Education (CME) program and Investigator-Initiated Studies (IIS) program. This role follows the processes in place to ensure grant activities are conducted in compliance with internal policies, applicable regulations, and industry standards, while providing operational support to internal stakeholders and external investigators and educational providers in a fully remote, virtual work environment.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in grants administration within a life sciences, academic, or healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the administrative point of contact for grant applicants, investigators, and educational providers via virtual communication platforms (email, video conferencing, and grant management systems).
  • Coordinate grant agreements, amendments, and required documentation in collaboration with Legal, Compliance, and Finance through remote cross-functional workflows and digital systems.
  • Maintain accurate grant records, databases, and filing systems in accordance with internal SOPs and audit requirements.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Track deliverables, milestones, and reporting requirements for funded grants.
  • Review and process progress reports, final reports, and financial reconciliations.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries through secure digital systems and virtual audit processes.

CME Program Support

  • Provide administrative support for accredited and non-accredited CME grants.

  • Coordinate with Medical Affairs and Compliance teams to ensure independence of educational content.

Investigator-Initiated Studies (IIS) Support

  • Administer IIS grant requests, agreements, and study documentation.
  • Track study timelines, payments, and reporting obligations.
  • Coordinate with Clinical, Medical, and Finance teams to support IIS operational needs across geographically dispersed teams.

MedCompli Lifecycle Management and Tracking

  • Provides operational support for the end-to-end planning and financial transparency in MedCompli across Congress, Exhibit Booth, and Advisory Board activities using centralized digital systems.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Medical Affairs, Compliance, Legal, Finance, and Clinical Operations to support grant processes.
  • Prepare internal summaries, dashboards, and metrics related to grant activity.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Travel Requirement

  • Ability to travel up to 10% for team meetings.

Required & Desired Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in grants administration, research administration, CME administration, or a related role
  • Working knowledge of CME and/or investigator-initiated research processes
  • Strong understanding of compliance requirements related to medical education and research funding
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fully remote, self-directed work environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

Key Competencies
