Pay Rate: $60 - $80/HR. DEPENDING ON EXP Work Mode: Remote - available to come onsite to Philly 2-4x a year for PI Planning Duration: 5 months with potential to extend pending performance, attendance, etc.
Work schedule hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with IT Product Managers and Architecture to refine and implement the product vision through actionable backlog items.
Work with Engineering leads to ensure technical feasibility and alignment with platform architecture and data lineage requirements.
Author and manage detailed user stories for API development and streaming workflows, including RESTful and event-driven integrations.
Understand and document data lineage across processing steps, ensuring traceability, auditability, and compliance with enterprise standards.
Facilitate sprint planning, backlog grooming, and demos to ensure delivery of high-impact features.
Partner with external vendors and internal stakeholders to support onboarding and downstream integrations.
Coordinate cross-team dependencies and align deliverables across Agile Release Trains (ARTs).
Own and manage the product backlog, continuously refining features and user stories.
Translate high-level business vision and reporting needs into product roadmaps, epics, and user stories.
Define clear acceptance criteria and ensure deliverables meet quality standards and stakeholder expectations.
Engage with business analysts, BI creators, report consumers, and architects to elicit, document, and validate data and reporting requirements.
Lead discussions to understand analytics needs, explore technical solutions, and prioritize delivery based on business value.
Map reporting and data use cases to available solutions within the existing architecture.
Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, retrospectives, demos, and PI planning sessions.
Work collaboratively with developers, QA, and Scrum Master to ensure clarity, delivery, and continuous improvement.
Review data products for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with acceptance criteria before release.
Provide regular updates to stakeholders on progress, challenges, and alignment to business objectives.
Serve as the point of contact for escalations related to data products or backlog prioritization.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
5 years of experience in product ownership or enterprise application integration, preferably in HRIS or insurance domains.
Proven experience writing technical stories for Java-based APIs, Kafka streaming, and data transformation pipelines.
Strong understanding of data lineage, including how data flows through ingestion, transformation, and consumption layers.
Familiarity with HRIS platforms such as Workday, ADP, or Alight.
Experience with cloud-native environments (AWS, Azure) and platforms like Fineos.
Agile certification (e.g., CSPO) preferred.
Strong technical acumen in data product and BI solution delivery.
Deep understanding of data modeling techniques and architectural patterns (star schema, normalized/denormalized models, etc.).
Experience working with BI and data wrangling tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
Proficiency in SQL, Python, and stored procedures for querying and transforming data.
Familiarity with cloud data platforms and tools, particularly AWS Redshift, Tableau, and AWS SageMaker.
Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously at various stages of development while prioritizing commitments and managing time effectively.
Insurance Industry experience with Disability, FMLA, Life products preferred.
Preferred Skills:
Experience working in large, matrixed organizations with diverse stakeholder groups.
Background in data governance, data quality, and metadata management.
Familiarity with CI/CD practices and version control for data pipelines or BI artifacts.
