At Ideaware we’re looking for a Platform Engineer – Senior Tech (Platform) to work for one of our international clients, building core backend systems that power player data, progression, streaks, rewards, and leaderboards. This role focuses on designing scalable, flexible systems that support multiple game modules and can be easily configured through lightweight CMS-style tooling. You’ll be part of a team that designs and delivers digital experiences with measurable impact, combining strategy, engineering, and human-centred design with deep technical expertise.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain backend services and APIs (API-first architecture)
Develop systems for player accounts, progression, rewards, and leaderboards
Leverage AI-assisted workflows to accelerate development, debugging, and system iteration
Design scalable systems supporting multiple game modules
Work within cloud-based architecture (compute, storage, databases)
Enable data-driven systems (config via JSON, not hardcoded logic)
Support lightweight CMS or data-driven configuration workflows
Collaborate with game engineers on integrations
Qualifications
Experience building backend systems for consumer-facing products
Experience working in AI-forward, agentic development workflows (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor) and leveraging them to accelerate development
Strong API design and service architecture experience
Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS or similar)
Familiarity with data-driven systems (config via JSON or similar)
English proficiency at B2 level or higher (able to communicate effectively in written and spoken form in professional settings)
