The R2A Capacity Building & Learning Specialist is part of the Regenerative Ranching and Agriculture (R2A) Strategy team and serves as a technical integrator, translating locally identified needs into coherent capacity‑strengthening and knowledge‑sharing processes. The role coordinates the design and implementation of the capacity building plan, supports training activities, workshops, and learning spaces strengthening to promote regenerative productive systems that align conservation outcomes with sustainable production goals, ensuring that capacity‑building approaches are accessible, inclusive, and responsive to diverse social, cultural, and territorial contexts. It also cultivates partnerships with academic and technical institutions to strengthen regional learning ecosystems and contributes to the regional community of Regeneradores by helping design and facilitate knowledge‑exchange initiatives.
The position holds primary responsibility in the prioritized Iconic Landscape in Latinoamerica, including Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Argentina, and Paraguay, and provides strategic, as-needed support to initiatives in Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, and Brazil, facilitating cross-country learning, adaptation of approaches to local contexts, and the connection of country portfolios with regional and global regenerative agriculture and conservation efforts.
S/he will lead the design, coordination and implementation of capacity-strengthening processes across the region, ensuring alignment with the R2A Strategy and the Future Landscapes Program. The role functions as a technical integrator, translating locally identified needs into coherent capacity strengthening and knowledge sharing processes aligned with regional program priorities. The position may lead the design, coordination, and implementation of the Capacity Building Plan, supporting technical exchanges, workshops, and learning spaces. This includes facilitating processes that strengthen technical and institutional capacities, promote knowledge generation and exchange, and respond to context-specific needs identified by country teams and partners building activities.
Key functions also include preparing and coordinating technical reports, reviewing and ensuring the quality of technical deliverables produced by external service providers, and synthesizing technical inputs to support program planning, learning, and decision-making. The role may also support strategic communications for internal and external audiences, respond to donor inquiries, and maintain project documentation. Uses TNC code of conduct and competencies as a baseline to conduct their actions and be an example for others. May include a combination of fieldwork (meetings, training and workshops) or be based entirely in an office setting, compiling information collected by others.

The ideal candidate will have strong coordination, communication, and organizational skills, and the ability to design and deliver training and knowledge management activities. The R 2A Capacity Building & Learning Specialist leads the implementation of the educational ecosystem program, coordinates workshops and learning spaces, and cultivates partnerships with academic and technical institutions. They support the organization of regional exchanges, contribute to technical and programmatic reports, ensure quality of external deliverables, and manage shared information systems. The role operates with autonomy within established guidelines, handles confidential information with discretion, and may supervise volunteers or temporary staff, disciplinary teams and leading capacity building processes across countries. The ideal candidate will have strong coordination, communication, and organizational skills, and the ability to design and deliver training and knowledge management activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE
Lead the design, coordination, and implementation of the Capacity Building Plan for internal and external target groups, ensuring alignment with the R2A strategy and the Future Landscapes Program’s objectives and outcomes.
Coordinate capacity strengthening processes across geographies and thematic areas, supporting the delivery of training, workshops, and learning spaces that respond to program priorities and locally identified needs.
Identify, cultivate, and coordinate partnerships with academic institutions, training organizations, and technical networks to co‑develop capacity‑building initiatives and strengthen regional learning ecosystems.
Coordinate closely with the regional Regeneradores platform to ensure that capacity‑building efforts, lessons learned, tools, and field insights are integrated into shared learning processes, helping position Regeneradores as the core hub that connects partners, technical assistance initiatives, and cross‑country knowledge exchange.
Facilitate and collaborate in the preparation of national and regional workshops and exchange tours, if needed, including scheduling and coordinating technical logistics, defining technical agendas, participants and preparing and sending pre-reading materials (between others).
Support the application of tools in technical meetings, workshops, and program learning processes to strengthen adaptive decision-making and continuous improvement.
Prepare, coordinate, and contribute to the development of technical and programmatic reports, synthesizing inputs from country teams, partners, and consultants to support program planning, learning, and donor reporting requirements.
Design and implement knowledge management processes, including the capture, systematization, and dissemination of lessons learned, good practices, and tools to strengthen adaptive management across countries.
Support the transversalization of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) across R2A processes, by providing technical guidance to country teams and partners, integrating DEIJ considerations into planning, implementation, and learning cycles, and contributing to the monitoring and documentation of inclusive and equitable approaches.
Map, systematize, and compare the technical assistance content and methodologies delivered by different partners across countries, identifying good practices, gaps, and opportunities for alignment to ensure coherence and technical quality in regenerative agriculture training for producers.
Review, assess, and support the quality assurance of technical deliverables produced by external service providers, ensuring alignment with program goals, technical standards, and agreed timelines.
Support strategic communications for internal and external audiences, including contributions to donor communications and responses to donor inquiries, in coordination with the Program Management Team.
Contribute specialized expertise to inform strategic decision-making processes, offering insights and recommendations based on evaluated data and best practices
Manages and maintains electronic shared files and folders (BOX)
Perform duties under general supervision and established guidelines;
Make day-to-day decisions within the scope of work assignments and prioritize work independently;
Demonstrate sensitivity in handling confidential information;
Able to travel up to 30% both domestically and internationally, and to work occasional weekends and evenings
What You’ll Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, agronomy, agroecology, natural resources management, sustainable development, social sciences, or related field and 5 years related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in technical program implementation, capacity building, or project coordination related to conservation, sustainable production, agriculture, or landscape‑scale initiatives.
Demonstrated experience in the design, coordination, or implementation of capacity strengthening or training strategies for diverse internal and external audiences, preferably in multi‑country or multi‑partner contexts, with sensitivity to cultural, social, and equity considerations.
Experience supporting the development of technical, educational, or communication materials tailored to diverse stakeholders, such as producers, extension agents, policymakers, or institutional partners.
Proven capacity to facilitate or co‑facilitate multi‑stakeholder dialogues, technical discussions, or learning spaces that bring together actors with different perspectives, interests, and levels of technical knowledge.
Ability to interact/communicate comfortably with a variety of stakeholders, including scientists, farmers and corporate partners.
Strong understanding of the environmental and social challenges associated with agricultural production and conservation, including trade‑offs, synergies, and equity considerations at farm, landscape, or territorial scale.
Knowledge of Regenerative Agriculture and associated on-farm practices.
Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
Experience coordinating multiple projects.
Experience handling standard business communications.
Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
5-7 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Background in locally led approaches and/or participatory methodologies.
Experience in adaptation of climate change, resilience and ecosystem-based approaches.
Experience developing and disseminating knowledge‑sharing products such as newsletters, briefs, and learning summaries for internal and external audiences.
Experience building and coordinating partnerships with academic institutions, training organizations, or research centers to co‑develop capacity‑building initiatives.
Ability to coordinate project information from a number of sources to populate databases, create reports and produce manual files.
Ability to complete tasks independently within assigned time frames.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, with assignments sometimes coming from a number of sources.
Multi-lingual and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
Strong administrative skills including attention to detail and numerical ability.
Ability to plan, administer and record results of work-team meetings and activities.
