About the Role
We're looking for an operations-minded manager to lead our Server Acquisition team in Detroit. This team is the engine behind Proof's supply-side growth: they find, vet, onboard, and activate the independent contractor Process Servers that make our marketplace work.
What You'll Own
Team Leadership & Performance Management
- Manage and develop a team of four Server Acquisition Specialists based in Detroit
- Own performance management, coaching, and accountability for the team
- Own the end-to-end acquisition funnel in HubSpot from lead to user activation
- Set priorities, run team meetings, and ensure the team is following processes that are focused on the right markets and activities
- Identify skill gaps and support individual team member growth
Server Quality & Activation Performance
- Track and analyze activation rates by market and by team member to surface opportunities for improvement
- Identify when the team is over-activating servers who aren't taking jobs and redirect effort accordingly
- Ensure new servers complete the first 30-day new user program and are set up for success before handoff to the Server Experience team
Pricing & Financial Take Rate
- Oversee server pricing negotiations to ensure custom rates are set and all agreed rates fall within acceptable margins
- Monitor the team's collective take rate and flag outliers for review
- Build reporting that makes pricing performance visible and actionable
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Partner with Dispatch, Server Experience, and Server Compliance to ensure acquisition supports operational needs and drives overall marketplace reliability
- Proactively identify and address coverage gaps
- Serve as the acquisition team's representative in cross-functional planning conversations
Who You Are
You've built or managed acquisition funnels for independent contractors at scale, whether in a marketplace, gig-economy, or field-services context. You know that bringing someone onto a platform is different from traditional recruiting: it's part marketing, part operations, part relationship management.
You're comfortable managing and developing people, making decisions independently, and taking ownership of outcomes. There's still infrastructure to build and optimize here, and that suits you.
Qualifications
Required
- 4+ years of experience in contractor acquisition, marketplace supply, field operations, or a closely related function
- Demonstrated experience managing an acquisition or growth funnel, not just filling requisitions
- 2+ years of experience directly managing and developing a small team
- Hands-on experience with HubSpot or a comparable CRM, including building or optimizing funnel workflows
- Strong understanding of lead generation, conversion metrics, and funnel optimization
- Ability to analyze activation and retention data and translate findings into team direction
- Based in or willing to relocate to the Detroit metropolitan area (team is fully in-person)
Preferred
- Experience in a two-sided marketplace or platform-based startup
- Background in contractor onboarding, compliance, or activation workflows
- Experience managing a financial take rate or pricing function
- Familiarity with legal services, field services, or gig-economy platforms
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range $90,000 - $125,000 based on experience and location
- Competitive performance-based bonus
