Allstate Cybersecurity and Controls finds itself at the nascent stages of transforming our security practice to follow a simple pattern of identifying corporate risk, translating that into controls to contain the risk, and employing software to eliminate and measure that risk through products. At the same time, Allstate Technology Solutions is undergoing massive transformation to modernize, leverage AI, and homogenize to cutting edge technology standards and practices. As a result, Cybersecurity must stay ahead of how bleeding edge technology is created and employed at Allstate. The Distinguished Engineer role joins us as an industry leader in software enabled security with a strong influence in leveraging AI to amplify our speed to market and innovation.

Responsibilities:

The Distinguished Engineer will be responsible for pioneering and breaking down cross organization, complex, enterprise problems into deliverable components.  During this breakdown, solutions will need to be constructed across multiple teams, and wherever possible, AI and third party solutions integrated for speed and quality.  The Distinguished Engineer is responsible for growing engineers across organizational boundaries while staying on the cutting edge of technology.  Distinguished engineers work across multiple efforts within a program to ensure continuity and prevent duplication of efforts.  Distinguished engineers are the very top of the engineering maturity ladder handling the most critical and difficult tasks while ensuring the success of multiple teams within their sphere of influence. 

Qualifications:

Industry expert in software driven security practices: 

  • Data monitoring, tagging, marshaling, triage 

  • Observability 

  • CI/CD pipelines and gating enforcement 

  • Identity and Access Management 

  • Messaging security via API, Streaming, and other legacy modes of system communication 

  • Multi cloud security via both container and virtual machine 

Industry expert in leveraging AI to leapfrog in software delivery: 

  • Large Language Models 

  • GenAI and Chatbot 

  • Model Context Protocol 

  • AI based Code Assistants 

  • Agentic Access 

  • A broad knowledge of third party products that could be valuable to Allstate 

Preferred Technology Experience: 

  • Full stack engineer across Java, React/Angular, multi database technology 

  • CI/CD pipeline automation including Jenkins and GitHub Actions 

  • Infrastructure automation preferably Terraform 

  • API Gateway experience across Cloud Based Gateways, preferably Apigee 

  • Cloud experience across AWS, Azure, and GCP 

  • Managing data within data lakes, preferably Snowflake 

  • Observability Stack, leveraging data monitoring tools like Datadog, AppDynamics, Splunk, ELK stack 

  • IAM tooling, Entra/Active Directory for RBAC, preferably more advanced ReBAC solutions like Google Zanzibar 

  • Multiple LLMs especially Claude and GPT and integration into IDEs, especially VSCode and Cursor

Compensation

Compensation offered for this role is 211,000.00 - 290,500.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation.
