Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of individuals ensuring they understand and follow processes and limits of authority
  • Deploy tactics to execute strategy and achieve earnings and growth
  • Responsible for achieving earnings, persistence, growth, service and expense objectives within designated marketplace
  • Responsible for supporting the development and achievement of business plans and supporting setting strategic direction.
  • Meet with matrix partners in Sales, key brokers and target clients to assess market trends, develop strategic focus and adjust market goals as necessary.
  • Assist in broker/ client development and handle high risk major impact negotiations
  • Provide risk and financial insights to make appropriate case decisions.
  • Identify best practices to drive execution of Under 3000 buyer group strategy.
  • Conduct regular touch point meetings with Local Market Director of Risk Management and Underwriting to gain feedback, take corrective actions, develop holistic strategies and provide guidance.
  • Execute product, network and affordability solutions for his/her assigned territory/markets
  • Identify and drive process improvements to increase speed to market on quote delivery and case implementation as well as maximize team capacity through efficiency gains.
  • Provide a broad risk management perspective to all strategic conversations.
  • Develop processes and disciplines around monitoring and assessing risk in decisions.
  • Always start with and end with customer / client needs, when developing consultative, innovative and affordable solutions and contemplating the resultant risk.

  • Act as a change agent in ensuring the effective implementation of business priorities.
  • Develop direct reports: provide opportunities for project work, coach and provide on-going formal and informal feedback, development plans in place.

Qualifications:

  • 13-16 years relevant work experience, Underwriting strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability creating and maintaining professional relationships
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, or equivalent work experience
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership and deliver results 
  • Experience in pricing and optimization or underwriting
  • Strong understanding of client analytics, financials, and value trade off
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Demonstrated ability to influence
  • Demonstrated passion for motivating and inspiring others to succeed
  • Self-motivated and driven
  • Innovative and creative mindset to drive process efficiencies for the organization
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
