Senior Technical Program Manager | Lonely Planet

Lonely Planet is building a new generation of digital products that transform how people discover, plan, and experience travel. As we continue to expand across web, mobile, and backend platforms, we are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to help drive alignment and execution across product and engineering.

This role sits at the intersection of product and engineering, ensuring teams are aligned on priorities, execution is coordinated across dependencies, and delivery is predictable at scale. You will play a key role in shaping how work gets done across multiple teams and product surfaces.

What You’ll Do:

• Alignment & Planning

  • Partner with Product and Engineering to translate roadmap priorities into clear, executable plans
  • Align teams on scope, sequencing, timelines, and trade-offs across app, web, and CMS initiatives
  • Coordinate across Product, Engineering, Editorial, and Business to drive end-to-end alignment on priorities and resource allocation.
  • Establish clear tracking, milestones, and visibility into execution and progress
  • Improve delivery predictability by reducing ambiguity and reactive coordination

• Delivery Execution

  • Drive delivery across Agile teams, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and release coordination
  • Manage cross-team dependencies and maintain a unified view of delivery across workstreams
  • Build and evolve lightweight processes that scale execution without unnecessary overhead
  • Partner with Engineering to understand system constraints, integration points, and sequencing of work
  • Facilitate timely decision-making by surfacing risks, constraints, and options early
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks, blockers, and cross-team impacts

What We’re Looking For:

• 6+ years of experience in Program Management, Technical Program Management, or similar roles in product-driven organizations
• Proven track record of driving execution across product and engineering teams in complex environments
• Strong understanding of modern web, mobile, backend systems, and CMS platforms
• Experience managing cross-team dependencies and multi-stakeholder initiatives
• Ability to identify risks, drive alignment, and support decision-making across functions
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences
• Ability to bring structure and clarity to ambiguous, fast-moving environments
• Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, or similar for tracking delivery and dependencies

Compensation:

This range reflects total cash compensation, which may include base salary only or base salary plus target bonus, depending on the role. Where eligible, equity may also be offered separately and not included below. Actual compensation varies based on location, experience, and qualifications.

• Total Cash Compensation Range: $100,000 – $135,000 per year
