About the Role

Team Global Express is seeking a mechanically minded Mechanical Technician to join our Engineering team at our Larapinta freight hub.

This role suits someone hands-on, motivated, and capable of fault finding and fixing equipment to keep operations running. Trade qualified mechanical fitters, electricians or other relevant trades are encouraged to apply — strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to think on your feet are essential.

Work on and maintain one of Southeast Queensland’s largest freight automation systems.

You will be responsible for maintaining and improving automated freight handling systems operating across Larapinta, Brisbane Airport, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast facilities..

About the role

•         This is a Permanent Full-Time opportunity.

•         Monday to Friday roster, with overtime available

•         Rotating AM and PM shifts (no night shift)

•         Hourly rate of $50.13/hr + 15% afternoon loading + penalties

•         Uniforms and all tools of trade provided.

•         Travel – company vehicle provided for travel to regional sites when required (Larapinta based).

Key Responsibilities

•         Carry out maintenance and repairs on automated conveyor systems

•         Fault find and resolve breakdowns to keep operations running

•         Perform preventative and corrective maintenance

•         Work closely with operations to minimise downtime

•         Use MEX CMMS to complete maintenance tasks and reporting

•         Assist with continuous improvement of equipment and systems

Ideal Background

•         Trade qualified mechanical fitter or other relevant trade, with strong mechanical aptitude

•         Experience working on mechanical equipment, conveyors, or similar systems

•         Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks

•         Strong problem-solving skills and practical approach

•         Basic welding or fabrication skills advantageous

•         Experience with CMMS systems such as MEX (or similar) desirable

•         Current Australian driver's licence

Highly Regarded Experience

•         Conveyor systems or automation equipment

•         Logistics, freight, manufacturing or industrial environments

•         Mechanical maintenance and reliability work

•         Belt tracking, tensioning, and general conveyor servicing
