Responsibilities:

Elwn seeks a Corporate Staff Accountant who supports the day-to-day accounting operations of the Finance and Accounting department. This role prepares and records journal entries, performs account reconciliations, and assists with monthly close activities and financial reporting to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger. The position exercises professional accounting judgment within established policies, procedures, and GAAP.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Working within established department procedures, internal controls, and applicable GAAP related to accounting and financial reporting, the Corporate Staff Accountant performs responsibilities in the following functional areas:

 

  • Prepare and record journal entries by compiling and analyzing account information in accordance with the established monthly close calendar.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger and subsidiary accounts, resolving discrepancies as needed.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting and ledger Integrity.
  • Serve as back-up for month-end close responsibilities assigned to other senior accounting staff.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management reports and related schedules, worksheets, and narratives.
  • Support the completion of quarterly and annual regulatory filings.
  • Analyze and summarize financial information for management review, as requested.
  • Prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor inquiries within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Assist with system testing, data validation, and controls review during system upgrades or implementations.
  • Participate in department and organization-wide projects, including acquisitions and system enhancements
  • Must be available to come into the office to perform essential job functions as needed
  • Maintain professional knowledge through ongoing education and development.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field preferred.
  • Two (2) years of general accounting experience preferred.
  • CPA or CPA candidate a plus.
  • Experience with ERP systems required; Oracle Cloud preferred.
  • Strong analytical and account reconciliation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound professional judgment and independently resolve accounting issues.
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Ability to anticipate potential accounting issues and recommend solutions.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
