POSITION SUMMARY:

The Specialist for Academic Quality & Assessment supports institution-wide efforts to improve academic quality through effective assessment practices, data management, and continuous improvement initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Academic Quality & Assessment, the Specialist assists with operational execution of assessment activities, survey administration, and data processing. The role collaborates with Deans, program chairs, associate faculty, and academic leadership to ensure accurate reporting, compliance with assessment expectations, and alignment with institutional goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Student Learning Outcomes & Assessment Support

  • Assist program chairs with student learning outcomes questions and assessment practices.
  • Support implementation of assessment activities and contribute to program review processes.
  • Maintain and update the Learning Outcomes Dashboard, including accurate data uploads.
  • Provide technical support for assessment tools, surveys, and data entry.
  • Assist in developing methods for evaluating student success outcomes.

General Education & Curriculum Support

  • Support application of revised learning outcomes and assessment strategies.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining AAC&U‑aligned rubrics.
  • Coordinate data collection and conduct preliminary analysis for curriculum improvements.
  • Support First Year Experience (FYE) assessment through data gathering and reporting.

Program Development & Improvement Support

  • Provide logistical and data support for Program Summit activities and program visualization processes.
  • Assist program chairs with curriculum alignment, outcomes mapping, and rubric development.
  • Support cross program‑ communication and sharing of best practices.

Survey Administration & Data Operations

  • Support End‑of‑Course (EoC) survey processes, including population files, uploads, and dashboard updates.
  • Assist with Alumni Survey administration and reporting.
  • Prepare data files and coordinate with vendors for external surveys (RNL, NSSE, etc.).
  • Maintain and update the Graduation Application Employment Questions dashboard.

Data Analytics & Reporting

  • Conduct preliminary data analysis to identify trends that inform decision‑making.
  • Prepare basic reports related to retention, graduation, and assessment findings.
  • Validate and upload data from institutional sources.

External Relations & Compliance Support

  • Assist in collecting and preparing data for accreditation, external ranking surveys, and compliance reporting.

Collaboration & Professional Development

  • Collaborate with the ASC Assessment Coordinator and other assessment personnel.
  • Participate in training and professional development related to assessment and data practices.
  • Represent the department on committees or working groups as assigned.

The work environment and physical demands are characteristic of those in an academic and/or office setting. This position is remote-friendly, but the individual is expected to be on campus regularly and be available for on-campus events and special occasions as needed.
