Description:

Tuvli, an Akima company, is hiring for a Jr. Classification Writer to support our DoS client located in Washington, DC. 

Responsibilities:
  • As a Junior Classification Writers will independently work classification, position management and other HR projects as assigned and assist in some cases the senior writers on the more complex projects.
  • Review the organization's functional statements and staffing pattern, the current position descriptions for the incumbent and supervisor.
  • Conduct onsite informational interview(s) with the supervisor and employee.
  • Prepare a written evaluation report summarizing the interview findings, evaluating the position's duties and responsibilities against appropriate and applicable Office of Personnel Management (OPM) classification standards, and documenting the rationale for the recommended title, series, and grade level.
  • If the interviews surface any position management issues or perceived weaknesses in the position, provide recommendations or options for restructuring the work or otherwise addressing the issues raised.
  • Develop and prepare new or amended position descriptions, job analysis, crediting plans or other necessary documents such as OF8s, FLSA determinations and memorandum as required for submittal to the human resources office.
  • The contractor will as required meet with human resources personal, supervisory and management officials at all levels to discuss and explain position classification or position management recommendations. In addition, when requested on-site training and mentoring will be provided.
  • The contractor as requested will assist human resource with special projects related to position classification and position management. As required provides facilitation support to ensure that study teams stay on track and within schedule. Participates in identifying new approaches to accomplish A/OPE operations, and supports the development of reports, projections, cost estimates, justifications, and associated briefings for management.
  • Develops information from various sources to produce highly specialized reports, analyses and recommendations to facilitate A/OPE decision-making on the broad portfolio of HR and management issues that falls under its purview.
  • Plays a role in developing operating guidance or procedures, program modifications or enhancements, or similar actions, and coordinates them within the A/OPE Bureau and with client Bureaus throughout the Department.
Qualifications:
  • Master's or bachelor’s degree in business or human resources management, with a minimum of three years’ work experience in classifying positions in the federal sector OR three (3) years ‘experience classifying positions in the federal sector.
  • 3+ years of standard classification experience assisting with all phases of classification of federal positions.
  • Experience should demonstrate knowledge of classification principles with both General Schedule and Federal Wage System positions.
  • Experience with customer advisory services in the areas of position management and basic organizational structure.
  • Must be able to obtain a Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) clearance.
