Job Overview
Responsible for developing sales and marketing strategies designed to achieve high rates of growth in Canada for the existing HUS business. Build, train, and manage the sales, channel marketing and distribution network. Coordinate with Business Unit Directors, Pricing Group management/personnel and sales personnel to design product marketing and sales strategies. Provide leadership to manage the implementation of the sales strategies and achievement of annual volume goals.
A Day In The Life
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide strategic direction to the Canadian marketplace; establish direction and prioritizing opportunities and product approvals within the country. Evaluate business potential. Work with BU leaders and key stakeholders to develop end-user product approaches and to increase HUS market share, knowledge, awareness, and ownership. Focus business development activity on target markets; develop orders and sales plans, forecast results, and update plans as necessary.
- Expand and improve our existing direct sales force. Design positions and qualifications, lead hiring activity. Put in place enhanced performance measurement systems. Develop and implement training programs. Measure and manage sales force effectiveness, productivity and volume growth.
- Evaluate the existing distributor and sales agent network. Make additions and improvements to the network. Oversee adherence to Hubbell Inc. policies and processes. Lead effort to integrate this network into the sales force. Coordinate with BU’s to see that the network has sufficient technical support and training. Lead integration efforts between existing and new networks as we continue to expand by acquisition. Measure the results and adjust as necessary.
- Work with BU leaders, and sales personnel to develop region specific product strategies for high growth products. Strategies shall be designed to maximize sales and standard margins by targeted market. Provide direction to collect and analyze market and competitor information, and recommend prioritized product and introduction strategies. Act as the sounding board to review and propose changes and additions.
- Use industry knowledge to summarize background and to explore opportunities for acquisitions that add strategic value to HUS. Provide insight to Business Development Manager and VP, NA Sales.
- Work closely with internal shared services groups, including the Pricing Group, to provide channel strategies; competitive price levels; and market analysis. Work closely with the Customer Service organization to ensure professional, timely, accurate processing of quotations, order entry and shipment performance as directed by the customer and in-line with HUS policies.
- Work in conjunction with local sales representatives and channel partners to make regular executive level customer visits to reinforce awareness and preference for HUS in the industry by end-user and OEM accounts.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Willing to travel extensively (60%) across the Canadian marketplace.
RECOMMENDED BACKGROUND: Engineering / Business degree with MBA preferred. Above average presentation skills, strong written and oral English skills and 5-10 years of business leadership experience.
OTHER ATTRIBUTES: Must be a strong business leader with a sound vision for the future of NA Electric Utility market and growth opportunities. Needs to be an able communicator; and provide leadership to the sales and distributor organization. The position requires extensive knowledge of the utility markets, distribution channels and end-user account development. The individual must be effective in a multi-cultural environment. The individual needs to be a rational advocate for national growth, capable of managing national sales activity, and be effective working with BU management/personnel, pricing group management/personnel, customer service management/personnel; along with distributor and Utility executives on a day-to-day basis.
