Position: Operations Manager - Amazon USA Private Label
Location: Remote (Global)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Type of contract: Independent contractor
🌎 Work from any corner of the world and be a part of the #remoteworkrevolution!‼️
Scope of the role:
We are hiring a hands-on Operations Manager to own and lead our Amazon USA private label operations end to end. This is a player–coach role: you will manage a small operations team while personally executing and solving critical operational issues across supply chain, inventory, and Amazon Seller Central.
This role is 50% execution, 50% leadership. If you prefer delegation over doing or a strategy without accountability, this role is not a fit.
You will be directly responsible for keeping inventory healthy, forecasts accurate, Amazon account health clean, and operations running without surprises.
Responsibilities:
1. Operations & Supply Chain
- Own day-to-day supply chain execution from supplier production in China to final delivery into Amazon fulfillment centers
- Manage and support the Supply Chain Manager, ensuring smooth coordination across suppliers, freight forwarders, and 3PLs
- Step in directly during critical operational periods to resolve logistics delays, customs issues, or inbound problems
- Make informed decisions on freight methods, customs clearance, and domestic transport
- Maintain full visibility into inventory levels and proactively prevent stockouts and excess inventory
- Build, maintain, and refine seasonal and monthly forecasting models to guide purchasing and replenishment decisions
2. Amazon Marketplace Operations
- Oversee order management and ensure customer service and administrative tasks are handled accurately and on time
- Take direct ownership of Amazon account health, including resolving policy violations, IP complaints, and compliance issues
- Execute operational tasks inside Amazon Seller Central when required, not just oversee them
- Coordinate closely with the PPC team to ensure advertising decisions align with inventory availability
- Monitor product listings, rankings, and competitor activity to maintain marketplace competitiveness
3. Vendor & Purchasing Management
- Manage relationships with suppliers, freight forwarders, and 3PL partners
- Negotiate pricing, timelines, and terms to balance cost efficiency with reliability and quality
- Evaluate vendor performance and address issues proactively
- Personally step in on critical supplier negotiations or escalations when needed
4. Leadership & Team Management
- Manage and mentor a small operations team of 2–3 people
- Establish clear processes, KPIs, and accountability across operations
- Drive continuous improvement with a focus on operational efficiency and accuracy
- Lead by example by working alongside the team during daily operations and high-pressure situations
- Balance strategic planning with hands-on execution to ensure consistent results
Requirements:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in operations, supply chain, or logistics within an Amazon FBA environment
- Strong experience managing inventory, forecasting demand, and planning replenishment cycles
- Proven ability to independently handle Amazon account health issues, including policy violations and IP complaints
- Deep understanding of Amazon FBA logistics, 3PL operations, and international shipping from China to the U.S.
- Highly detail-oriented, process-driven, and organized
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment
- Solid understanding of how PPC and marketing performance impact inventory and operations
- Fluent in English with strong communication and analytical skills
- Ability to work U.S. East Coast hours
90-Day Success Criteria:
Within your first 90 days, you will be expected to:
- Fully understand and operate the end-to-end supply chain, from China-based suppliers through freight, 3PLs, and Amazon FBA.
- Independently navigate Amazon Seller Central workflows, including account health, policy issues, and operational troubleshooting.
- Learn existing forecasting processes and improve forecast accuracy using historical data and seasonality.
- Deliver reliable, actionable demand forecasts aligned with inventory constraints and business goals.
Key Performance Indicators:
You will be measured primarily on operational outcomes:
- Maintain 60–90 days of inventory at the 3PL level per SKU
- Fewer than 8 SKUs overstocked beyond the forecast period (typically 6 months)
- Fewer than 4 SKUs overstocked at Amazon FBA (>75 days of inventory)
- Fewer than 2 SKUs understocked at Amazon FBA (<21 days of inventory)
- Amazon Inventory Performance Index (IPI) consistently above 465
