Electrical Design Engineer – North American Industrial Projects

Our client is an international engineering firm specializing in high-impact electrical solutions for heavy industrial facilities across North America. We live engineering with a purpose: creating safe, efficient, and sustainable electrical systems that power large-scale industrial projects.

The Mission

Your mission is to develop electrical designs for brownfield and greenfield industrial projects, ensuring technical precision, traceability, and full compliance with North American standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Design: Develop electrical systems for heavy industrial facilities (480 V – 138 kV power distribution, motor control, emergency/islanded power systems, and UPS).
  • Technical Leadership: Lead or actively participate in internal and external design meetings.
  • System Studies: Perform electrical system studies and coordinate seamlessly with other engineering disciplines.
  • Procurement Support: Prepare equipment specifications, bid packages, and technical bid evaluations.
  • Quality & Delivery: Ensure quality control, schedule compliance, and high-standard engineering deliverables.
  • Project Liaison: Support basic project management and maintain fluid communication with clients.

What Do You Need to Succeed?

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in electrical design for heavy industrial facilities.
  • Software Mastery: * Expertise in AutoCAD (essential) for managing drawing layers and fonts according to client specifications.

    • Proficiency in ETAP, BIM, AGI32, or Revit (highly desirable).
    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Standards & Codes: Solid knowledge of the NEC (National Electrical Code).
  • Language: Advanced English level (B2+ or above) is mandatory for technical coordination and client meetings.
  • Work Setup: Ability to work autonomously from Colombia, adapting quickly to an international technical environment. Please note: You must provide your own high-performance computer; the company will provide all necessary software licenses.
