The Marketing and Communications Manager, Micronesia & Polynesia helps tell The Nature Conservancy’s story by guiding marketing efforts that support its mission and priorities. Day-to-day work includes researching stories, drafting engaging content to strengthen campaigns, coordinating photo and video shoots, and building strong relationships with staff, partners, and media to ensure communications are collaborative, authentic, and far-reaching. Working across departments, they develop targeted plans and promotions, manage projects and budget, and have the autonomy to solve challenges creatively. The role plays a vital part in amplifying TNC’s impact across Micronesia.
The Marketing and Communications Manager manages all aspects of specific marketing program and ensures that the creative work reflects the positioning, platform and voice of organization’s marketing objectives and meets client/internal partner needs. They serve as an expert resource to organization’s many departments and plays a lead role in crafting communications solutions that meet specific project objectives, while simultaneously strengthening The Nature Conservancy brand. They participate in devising plans and promotions in collaboration with internal departments to meet specific marketing and philanthropy targets. They actively identify target audiences and cultivate media contacts on a local and national level. They may coordinate and manage budgets for the initiative/program and may oversee the day-to-day tasks of the program. We expect this position to live within the region we currently do work in*, with a preference for Palau.
*The Micronesia and Polynesia program currently works in: Federated States of Micronesia, Republics of Palau, Kiribati and the Marshall Islands, Territory of Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands) and Polynesia (American Samoa and French Polynesia).
Manage and serve as team lead on assigned projects.
May supervise professional and/or administrative staff.
Manage assigned budget, evaluate results and develop recommendations for corrective strategies as needed.
Responsibility and accountability for meeting project goals and objectives.
Resolves complex issues independently within program area.
Opportunity to act independently within program goals.
Travel occasionally to team meetings or trainings; flexible hours may be required.
Other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum 7 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience (11 years' work experience if no bachelor's degree).
Experience managing client and account relationships; leading with both internal and external partners.
Experience implementing and managing multiple complex projects from concept through execution; particular experience in producing and managing video and multimedia storytelling projects
Experience negotiating agreements.
Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred, ideally a familiarity and understanding of Micronesia and Polynesia.
Experience applying marketing principles on projects/programs.
Background in journalism, editorial writing, or fundraising communications is a plus.
Experience conceiving and writing creatively, tailoring technical or scientific information for non-technical audiences.
Practical knowledge of current and evolving trends related to field of experience.
Strong communication skills with ability to articulate ideas in a compelling manner.
Ability to provide constructive feedback and guide work to meet quality and brand standards.
Familiarity with digital platforms, content management systems, email marketing tools, and analytics.
Practical knowledge of current marketing and communications trends, including social media and emerging storytelling formats.
