About the Job:
At DTN our legal team works alongside stakeholders throughout the business. We provide high quality advice and support for the negotiation, drafting and ongoing management of contracts with customers and suppliers, and work to manage legal risk across the business.
Job Summary:
The Legal Counsel will assist with managing a wide range of matters in a manner that maximizes value for DTN and our clients. The successful applicant will be capable of managing contracts in accordance with company policies and procedures, applicable laws and client business requirements.
The core focus of this position will be sales and procurement agreements. Additionally, there may be opportunities to get involved in M&A, litigation, data protection, HR issues, general corporate work and much more. This is a global business and candidates will need to be comfortable participating in global projects (with input from external counsel as necessary).
Responsibilities:
Work with sales teams and client counterparts to assist with day to day contract management support and to understand delivery requirements
Assist with reporting, documenting commercial and contract risks and issues, following up with business counterparts to coordinate completion of open actions
Escalate matters to leadership and help ensure affected parties are notified in an appropriate and timely manner
Demonstrate basic knowledge of DTN's offerings and associated commercial considerations
Draft and review of contractual documents (eg services as a software (SAAS) agreements, statements of work, change requests, arrangement letters, subcontracts and non-disclosure agreements) and collaborate with other internal functions
Support and where necessary lead in negotiations
Handle high volume, multiple matters simultaneously
Provide high quality legal support across other areas of the business as necessary, in particular in relation to corporate support and data protection issues
Requirements:
Admitted as a solicitor
2-3 years’ post-qualification experience in commercial contract law
Strong technical legal and contracts experience
Effective negotiating skills
Experience working directly with customers
Excellent inter-personal skills with experience working with a wide range of stakeholders
Some experience working in a law firm preferred
Data protection, general corporate and/or intellectual property experience preferred
