About Our Department

The Central Library Events team manages a newly constructed 400-person venue within the Central Library. With the leadership of the Central Events Manager, this team supports a wide range of events and programs for our diverse community.

About Our Position

Support Event Management at the Central Library. Coordinate logistical, technical, and administrative support and activities for events. Maintain event files and ensure receipt and filing of essential documents. Determine work priorities and develop work schedules to provide adequate staffing coverage. Work closely with the Event Manager in the daily operations of the Event Management. Communicate effectively with customers, staff, and administration.

  • Knowledge of planning events sufficient to be able to synthesize various activities, persons, and spectators for multiple events. 

  • Ability to work with different stakeholders at one time. 

  • Ability to review work for accuracy and completeness. 

  • Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service. 

  • Ability to resolve issues quickly and effectively, and is knowledgeable about products and services. 

  • Ability to express information to individuals or groups effectively. Skill in training people with varied skill levels. 

  • Ability to demonstrate innovation and flexibility. 

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, balance multiple priorities and work with attention to detail. 

  • Ability to understand and interpret written material, including technical material, rules, regulations, instructions, reports, charts, graphs, or tables. 

  • Ability to write in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience. Ability to bring a positive energy, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity and a sense of humor to the workplace. 

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Theater, Fine Arts, Technical Production, or a related field.

  • Three (3) years of experience assisting with set design, stage or event productions.

Substitutions:

  • One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.

Work Environment & Location

The Denver Public Library's branches are the arms to the community—each a unique reflection of the dynamic, diverse communities we serve. At DPL, we pride ourselves on showing up and providing support whenever there is a need. While you may be hired for a specific location, please know that we are hiring with the expectation that at any time, you may be required to work at any one of our branches based on operational needs. This allows our staff to experience the full breadth of Denver's communities and ensures we consistently deliver the highest level of service across our branches.

DPL employees may be redeployed to work in other locations or capacities to support The schedule will be determined by the needs of the department and will include evening and weekend hours.

Although the full salary range for this position is provided, starting salary is typically made at or near the range minimum. The City and County of Denver benefit package will be offered.

This job is located on-site at the Central Library in downtown Denver with very limited opportunities to work from home. The successful candidate for this position should be prepared to pay for parking (~$200 per month), use public transportation or other alternative means of transportation to get to and from work.
