Principal Cloud Database Administrator - P5

Veradigm is looking to expand our Cloud Database Operations team.  We are looking for a passionate Azure/AWS Cloud Principal DBA who can bring expertise to help transform/support our Azure/AWS database technologies (Primarily SQL Server/MongoDB/PostgreSQL/Snowflake). The ideal candidate will have Azure/AWS IaaS and PaaS operational Microsoft SQL Server expertise with either MongoDB or PostgreSQL expertise.

The position requires you to be a team player for a small and focused DB Operations/DevOps group that is responsible for architecting, designing, building, scaling and supporting RDBMS cloud platforms.  You will collaborate with the broader DevOps, Data Architecture and Engineering teams to deliver solutions, and drive change, in support of our mission.  Principle level members will be key contributors accountable for driving initiatives end to end.

Responsibilities:

• Apply your depth of knowledge and experience towards enabling our business to transition to the cloud.
• Engage with engineering teams to gather infrastructure and database platform requirements and transform them into functional solutions within the Azure database cloud.
• Ensure the continuous availability of our mission critical systems.
• Help manage all aspects of our Azure/AWS databases, instances and storage backing our cloud platforms.
• Conquer the day-to-day operational aspects of our systems:
• Participate as a member of a Database DevOps team to automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform
• Performance monitoring/tuning
• HA/DR strategies
• Backup strategies
• Query tuning
• Cloud instance/storage design, provisioning and performance monitoring
• On-prem to cloud migrations
• Automate routine tasks with your own scripts and open-source tools

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or other related discipline
• Proven multi-year 5 + years including leading projects relating to architecting and provisioning AWS/ Azure SQL Server infrastructure and database instances in both IaaS and PaaS
• Proven experience as a key decision maker in Azure design, infrastructure and strategic directions
• Solid experience with designing, implementing, supporting and scaling the SQL Server stack (instances/storage/DBMS)
• Lead Projects and solid expertise in leading complex database related initiatives from beginning to end.

Ideal additional experience:

• Experience with large, high volume, mission critical SaaS environments
• Experience with PostgreSQL
• Experience with MongoDB
• AWS proficiency in all aspects of designing, sizing and implementing SQL instances, storage and RDMS
• Azure proficiency in all aspects of designing, sizing and implementing SQL instances, storage and RDMS
• Terraform expertise
• Scripting abilities
• Linux system administration proficiency.
• Passionate about solving business data problems
• Thrives in a rapidly paced environment and loves new challenges
• Incredibly detail oriented and thorough
• Experience in an Agile or Scrum Environment­
