Job Description:
The Regional Director of Operations is a senior leader accountable for the performance, reliability, and long-term health of a regional data center portfolio. This role provides strategic oversight for Data Center sites across multiple states, ensuring consistent execution of enterprise standards, strong operational outcomes, and sustained customer trust.
The Regional Director aligns people, infrastructure, and spending to business priorities while leading through Area Managers, Data Center Managers, and senior technical leaders. The role is accountable for approximately 150 employees, multiple layers of management, and serves as the primary escalation point for regional performance, risk, and customer issues.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Regional Strategy and Performance
- Set and execute the regional operating strategy aligned to company objectives.
- Own regional performance outcomes, including availability, safety, customer experience, and consistency.
- Govern regional capital and operational investments, balancing capacity needs, lifecycle replacement, and long-term reliability.
- Approve capacity strategies for power, cooling, and space to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Operational Excellence and Reliability
- Ensure high availability and operational excellence across the region.
- Sponsor reliability, efficiency, and risk reduction initiatives, including minimizing change related incidents.
- Provide executive oversight of maintenance strategies and continuous improvement efforts.
- Use DCIM, capacity planning, and performance analytics to anticipate constraints and guide decisions.
Standards, Compliance, and Risk
- Enforce enterprise operational standards, including SOP/MOP/EOP, EHS/LOTO, and audit readiness.
- Own regional compliance, audit remediation, and standards adherence.
- Lead incident and crisis governance, including executive escalation and post incident reviews.
- Ensure safe work execution through disciplined application of PPE and risk controls.
Leadership and Organizational Health
- Lead and develop a multi‑layer management organization across operations and engineering.
- Build a strong leadership bench, ensuring succession coverage and cross site resilience.
- Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and operational discipline aligned with company values.
- Partner with HR and Operations Standards and Controls on workforce planning and leadership development.
Customer and Cross Functional Leadership
- Own regional customer escalations, ensuring effective communication and service recovery.
- Ensure consistent customer experience within contractual and SLA commitments.
- Collaborate with Engineering, DCIM, Commercial Ops, Physical Security, IT, and other teams to align execution with enterprise priorities.
- Influence company‑wide standards and support delivery of large operational initiatives.
Performance Management
- Define and track regional performance metrics, including availability, incidents, audits, NPS, and effectiveness.
- Review scorecards with Area Managers and hold leaders accountable for results and improvement actions.
Travel
- Travel 25%-50% of the time within the region to engage teams, assess site performance, and ensure standards consistency.

Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
Experience
- 10+ years in mission critical data center or critical facilities operations.
- 5+ years leading multisite operations through managers.
- Experience with capital planning, capacity strategy, or large operational portfolios.
- Proven incident leadership and executive escalation experience.
Technical & Professional Skills
- Strong knowledge of mission critical infrastructure (electrical, mechanical, controls).
- Familiarity with MEP systems, BMS, and DCIM.
- Experience with maintenance strategy, lifecycle planning, and capacity management.
- Solid understanding of risk, compliance, and safety frameworks.
- Strong communication and influencing skills across technical and executive audiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and enterprise operations tools (ITSM, BMS, BCMS, DCIM).
Physical Requirements:
Base Pay Range: Annualized salary range offered for this position is estimated to be $180,000 - $215,000. However, the actual pay range depends on each candidate’s experience, location, and qualifications.
Variable Pay: Discretionary annual bonus, based on personal and company performance.
